It has been killing me to get back out on the water and catch something that will actually pull back when I set the hook. With the kids off of school today I decided to make it this afternoon and head to Bonham for a couple hours of evening fishing.

It started off bad when I pulled the boat out of the garage and ripped off the passenger tail light of my trailer buy turning too early coming out. I managed to get it repaired but I will still need a new light housing.

We got to the lake around 3:00pm and boy is the lake low. I had to crawl over the top of my truck to get into the boat to unload. Finding a spot to beach was impossible so I pulled the bow under the dock and climbed up.

We headed to our first spot -- Oz's favorite spot and got blanked (as usual for me over there). Moved over to another spot and I quickly landed 2 fish on a black/blue jig.

We fished a few more spots with little action and at our last spot, just before the sun went down over the horizon, Jessica connected on this fish with a "Dirty Sanchez Sweet Beaver"...

Corey was a little dissapointed that she did not catch any fish but the girls learned some new methods this trip. I was flipping the reeds and they kept casting into the and getting stuck. I taught them how to flip with their spinning rigs and Jessica is getting pretty good at it. Corey still needs some help but they are learning.

Just before dark I tried a spinnerbait but did not pick anything up on it. All of my fish came on the 1/8 oz jig.

It was a short trip but great to be on the water none the less and nice to feel fish that actually pull back.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Great job Mike. Looks like time well spent.

You are such a great dad Mike. Starting to make me look bad.

Bigun... I could never make you look bad! I'm just trying to be more like you... :-)

It was short, but a fun afternoon with the kids none the less...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
