I wanted to go Friday but the wind and potential rain kept me from going. The rain held up and never made it and I should have went. The rain did make it Saturday and no way of going. But I woke up this morning and the radar looked good. I made some phone calls trying to get someone to go with me and no one wanted to go. I finally had enough sitting around and decided I would brave it myself. I left the house around 9 am and was fishing around 9:45. I put 7 keeper trout in the chest in the first ten casts. Fishing did slow down a little bit for a while after this but I had my 25 fish limit cleaned and heading back to Houma before 12:30. All fish caught on olive back Tsunami 3" paddletails. If any of your stores have access to these baits up that way, let me know! The word is they are going to be hard to find and I need to find a source to bulk up on them.

Sounds like some good eatin'

These folks sell to dealers only but they probably could tell you where to find those paddletails.

Not too many stores here in North Texas selling the saltwater baits but I can check Sports Authority and Academy (they have a small section for saltwater). Congrats on the fish. Connie wants me to work on the barn today but I would rather go try and catch some crappie... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Went back today with my brother in law Mark and my brother's father-in-law Willie. Left my house at 7:30 am and had our 75 trout by 10:56. We decided to go try some reds but really never got on them catching 5 and losing 2. Was defintely the way to start a new year.

I will check them out TomC Thanks.

It's always good down there. He would not know how to act if he actually had to work for his fish... :-)

Went to my dad's this morning and finally around 9 AM talked him into going fishing with me. While slower than last week, the fish were bigger size with all of them being 15-20". Caught our 50 fish limit a little before 1 PM. I caught them on Tsunami purple haze and a Tsunami clear with silver flake (not sure of color name) and my dad on Deadley Dudley blue moon and H&H Firecracker. Of course the camera is sitting at home with a dead battery. All these fish and no charters to make money on!!! Story of my life.

I forgot to mention and wondering if anyone else has every seen something like this? Today I caught a speckle trout that had no tail fins??? Right where the body slims down and starts to rise back up to the tail it was completely cutoff and skin completely healed over. This fish was probably about 16", very healthy, and could swim just like every other fish I ever caught. Me and dad talked it over and decided he deserved to continue living. :-) I threw him back in the water and he took off swimming using his whole body to propel him. I would have never thought this fish would have lived thru this type of injury or continue to grow like a normal fish??? For once I wished I did bring the camera.:-)

Glad to hear you're on the trout again. Never seen a fish without at least some of the tail fin. Would of liked to have seen that one.

Wish I had the money to go down there I would love to get a mess of trout.
