Headed out to the lease this weekend to do some hunting. Randy one of the lease members rolled in around midnight friday night. He had hit a hog on the way in doing about 75 mph. The damage wasn't too bad on the truck. We used a come-along and pulled the bumper back out and he was good to go. There was considerable hog residue on and under the truck. Including Yes, we think those are hog nuts After lot's of makers friday night I was the only one able to get up the next morning and make the hunt. Before daylight I could hear animals at the feeder eating corn. Once it got light enough I realized that I had 3 piglets feeding at the feeder. I would guess they were close to 5lbs each. As I was thinking about getting out and trying to catch one of these little piglets so that the dog would have something to play with when I noticed a larger pig working his way in. He comes into the feeder and I pick my bow up and draw back. It is still too early and I can't see my pins. I let back down and wait about 5 minutes. I draw back again and I can see my pins but not when they are on the hog. I line up the shot under the pig, slowly raise up until I think I am about right and send the arrow on it's way. I hear the thwack of a good hit and see the pig run off with arrow still in it. I stay in the blind till around 9:30 or so to see if anything else will come in but nothing worth shooting ever did. I get out and start tracking the hog, after about 30 yards I start to find blood and about 20 yards later I find my pig. The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful. Buck activity really picked up Sunday morning but nothing old enough to shoot. Gonna head back down this weekend, hopefully a good one will come in. |

Great shot Wes! That surely is an ugly critter. Good luck to getting that big buck this weekend! Quit being a mad, little bald man! Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic. I forgot the CAMERA!
