Ok you all are probably sick of me by now but here we go again. Can anyone recommend a good place around the Lewisville area where I can get some good prop help? I currently have a 1994 20' Charger,a 200hp Evinrude Vindicator with a Raker 14-1/2 x 24 prop on it. The boat only goes 56mph at about 5100rpm. The boat currently jumps out of the hole quickly but I feel I could do much better on top end. What would you guys recommend I try to get some more top end. Thank you in advance for your help!!!

No, the design of the Charger pretty much equals a jackplate though. Thanks!

Terry, try giving Pier One a call. I know its not that close to Lewisville, but the guy can set up a boat and he is a Charger dealer.

It definitely sounds like a big prop for the boat but I'm no expert. I would definitely talk to someone familiar with the boat like Dru stated. It is amazing how different props run different boats.

T,
Have you talked to James Propeller about this? They are in Farmers Branch of 35E at Valley View.

I think they went out of business quite a while back. That was my first thought but a buddy of mine said they were gone. :-(

Terry, I wish I could be of help here but it's just one of those topics I'm not familiar with.

Stick with Bud I won't steer you wrong...I talked to a friend of mine last ni9ght and he runs a Charger with a 200 Yamaha. He has a 23 prop on his and get 65mps. But he has a 1998 motor. What did James say?

They said I should have the tach tested first to make sure we are getting the correct RPM reading.

Terry,

you should be running more RPM's then this. Probably around 5800. Lots things that could be the problem.. Motor sitting to low on the boat, to low of a pitch prop or maybe just a tired motor... I do a little working on boats so I maybe able to help. I'll be living in Lville by next weekend so you can swing it by sometime.

I just took my prop back for the third time to James Propeller for what ever reason they have a real tough time with the Tempest Props. I hope it works out this time! I need the speed!!

The local guy here told me he hates seeing a Tempest come in. He says it is one of the strongest props around and literally wears him out beating on them. May have something to do with it?
