Well it looks like work is sending me to India for a couple of weeks in January. Figured I would start a mini blog here for the trip...

Trip right now is tentative for leaving on Jan 14th and coming back on Jan 31st.

Called today to schedule the first round of shots you must get for a trip over there. There are 3 rounds total that are needed. I will only get one round before the trip due to time restraints. I will have to get another round when I get back then another round in like 6 months or so. First appointment is Thursday morning at 7:30am... What a way to start a day

On a side note, I have started searching for fishing/hunting opportunities while I am over there. It looks like there is some fishing outside of Bangalore about 100km. I will be looking more into this as the trip gets closer.

I just got off the phone with someone in Bangalore India and I asked him about the weather... He said the weather is nice right now so I asked, what is nice? Throughout the broken english conversation I really picked up very little info on the temps over there. I can tell you that the weather is "nice" over there right now...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I know nothing about India other than I have no desire to go there. Should be some awesome Axis hunting somewhere? Isn't this where they original were from?? :-)

weather isn't bad right now over there. Today was a low of 59 and a high of 81.

Wade I think hunting would be cool over there, just not sure I will have time on this trip to track down a chance to do some. I believe this is going to be the first trip of several I have to make over there.

Side note. I have talked to a few people from here that have gone. Basically it sucks. Not really that much to do from what I have been told.

This is southern India, not sure how sacred the cow is there. I do know that I will probably be eating alot of chicken and lamb while I am there.

Charles any chance to go some place new is always cool. Just not excited about the 24-26 hour trip to get there. I was trying to convince my boss to let me stop in london for a couple of days on the way there and the way back but I don't think that is going to happen. London is a fun town :-) At least I get to fly business class on the trip.

Got the last of the pretrip shots this morning. Also started the typhoid pills today. Got my flight booked over the holidays. I fly out on Jan 15th and return on Feb 1st. The trip is 20 hours in the air and 6 hours of layovers just to get there. I will get over 20000 flyer miles for this trip though..

Wes, I hear the hunting is much better in Afghanistan. Maybe try there.
Next time you are up this way, holler at me and we can make a trip out to the lake. The boys are more than likely not gonna make it this year so I will have Super Bowl Sunday open. I will even back up the boat so you can catch a fish….

Wes, I hear you on the shots. India is not a place for a Texan like Oz was sayin. I stopped there for fuel in 05' while on deployment headin to the east. Got about a day and a half there. Cows are sacred. I wouldn't kick em or tip em. Don't look at the women. It's not good. I could go on... Try out the King Fisher brew. Best of luck to ya.

Tomc I need to make a trip back up there. I think Mike and I are going to fish the skeeter tournament again this year. Sounds like we need to have a little party at Oz's place on fork.

Well I made it to india. So far so good. Tommy, good call on the kingfisher beer. After we drank the bar out of jack daniels last night I switched to that and it wasn't bad.

So what can I tell you about India. Traffic is unreal. Cab drivers are crazy. Pedestrians have zero rights. Fortunatly I do not have to cross the street on the walk from the hotel to the office, not sure I would make it if I did. As for the cabs and driving the person with the loudest horn wins. It will scare you to death to ride in a cab here. Hotel is nice, food isn't bad. All of the people at the hotel and restraunts and bars are very friendly. Lot's of beggars on the streets. I had 4 guys at the airport almost get in a fight over who could carry my bags.

Also the weather has been about 80 degrees or so during the day. With the weather in Texas, I am almost glad I am here :-)

I will try and take the camera out today or tomorrow and get some pics to post.

Glad you made it there safe and left all this cold weather behind for us to enjoy. I think we are pushing 3 days below freezing at the house. Stayed home with the kids today because school was closed and every time I checked it was still below freezing.

On the driving... You should feel right at home over there. Sounds like the most aggressive wins. :-)

Thanks for the update.

Tommy I am staying at the Capital hotel.

Squaw Creek was a good time. Did they ever reopen that lake?

Haven't seen a cow yet, or an elephant. Maybe this weekend.

Bigun, at least in my truck if we would have hit something we would have had a chance. Over here the cars are not that big. Now the 3 wheel carts that everyone rides in over here you couldn't pay me to get in one of those.

Went to an India place for lunch yesterday. The guys I went with ordered a bunch of different foods. They waiter put this green thing down on my plate. I asked one of the guys what it was and he told me chicken. How in the hell do you make chicken green? Wasn't too bad though.

so now there are riots going on in the city in India I am in. Muslims started a bunch of fights, Hindus retaliated. this is happening a couple of miles from where I am at. I was told it is safe here but everybody has left for the day. They also told me not to walk back to my hotel or if I did to be very careful... Also depending on the cost to change my flight, it looks like my stay here might extended 2 more weeks.. Oh joy

Here are few pics

How would you like to work with scaffoling?
