So before I got sent away to India I was looking at a used boat. Any concerns with a 2000 Evinrude 225 Ficht Ram injection outboard? I seem to remember some the Ficht motors having problems but I can't remember the year models.

Any concerns besides being an Evinrude??? :-)
I'll ask my outboard mechanic friend if I see him this weekend. I know it would be an OMC product due to I believe OMC bankrupted and sold to Bombardier after 2001 models were already out. My opinion on big motors is it is all about whether they get ran regularly. I find big motors that have set up and not run regularly to be a ticking time bomb!!

I asked my mechanic about the fichts and he said don't buy one older than 2000. I would call around to a few shops before buying one just to make sure.

I have a Rude and it's been a great motor for me. I don't know if that means anything since it's not a ficht and it was bought before backruptcy time frame.

I've always liked Evinrude over Mercury but I know nothing about the Ficht motor.

Wes,
Those motors are the major reason OMC went under.. be very cautious.
