Does anyone have any insight, connections, suggestions, etc about where to buy quality used boats?

I am considering beginning the search process for a used boat in the next few months and was wondering if anyone had any hookups around DFW? There are sometimes some good prices at that consignment place in Lewisville (DFW Boats) but you never really know what you're getting there, ya know?!?

Any input?

Rudey, I talked to FishinDude from TBH about selling a used boat. He seemed like a nice enough fellow. He is with Fun-n-Sun there in Irving, I believe.

Rudey, the lease manager of my deer lease is wanting to sell his garage kept Javalin that has limited use and most of that use is on the local lake at Jacksboro. Let me know if you want more info on it. Heck, you could stop by and see it on your next trip to your lease.

Wes, the ss90 is a 16 footer, right? I've done my penance in boats that size...I want a real boat this go 'round!:-O

Dru, hadn't thought about that...I see him at our happy hours every once in a while!

Mike, sounds good, but I'm not ready to buy yet. It'll probably be a few months before I'm ready to start "seriously" looking to buy. Just starting to gather some info!

I keep an eye on this place. I think they are in Wiley. He deals with a lot repo'd boats but he sells some on consignment as well. I've never been by there but I've seen some pretty good prices. Might be worth checking out.

Also The Terminator boat that Scott Dean has may be for sale soon. Triton TR21X. Scott will be at the booth too.

Check this site http://www.impactfishing.com/ . He sometimes has an excellent deal from time to time. Most of the boats are from Basscat prostaff memebers needing to sell their boat to make room for their new one.

Let me know when your reading to buy and I might consider selling mine (that is, of coarse if it meets your requirements).

The $7,500 buy it now is too much but it might go for less.

Are you looking for something like this? I bought my boat recently off eBay. I watched the auctions for a long time and ended up with a pretty good deal. I still watch and would be happy to keep an eye out for you if you let me know what you are looking for.

Forgot to mention, my Dad bought a boat from one of the consignment stores off of 35 and had a hard time getting the title.

From what I remeber the boat was a bank repo. Dad paid the consignment store but they never paid the bank. After contact the Texas Attorney Generals office and the Bank with proper Sales Agreements and cleared check he was able to get a clear title.

I clicked on texfish link and was able to get to the site. That place is pretty close to my house.

Most of there boats are bank repo's.

Before I bought the boat I have now I checked his site frequently.

A buddy of mine from Houston bought a Triton from them. My buddy had me go look at three boats. Two of them were trashed and the Triton was in excellent condition.

Free to $10-$15k. Any more than that and I'd start looking at new boats.

I'm not opposed to good aluminum boats, either. I don't mean a flat bottom jon boat, but the good V-hulls that are built like the normal fiberglass V-hulls. Just as an example, Bass Pro has a brand new 2006 model 19' V-hull aluminum (190 TX) with a 115 Mercury on it for $18k. I'm not a big fan of the Bass Pro/Tracker boats, but for the price.....

Sea Ark used to make some in that price range also.

The Pantera looks like a good deal. A friend bought the same ProCraft in August. He paid the same price but got the '00 motor as well.

I would be willing to bet the Pantera has been used heavily, just a feeling, looks like a smoking price though but I would be concerned about hours on the engine. I like Pro-Craft boats, Oz and I spent a lot of time in an old 180 Dual Pro with a 175 efi Merc. My Pro-Craft was definitly a tough boat. The price on it looks OK for the year it kinda depends on how much the boat has been used. The good thing on both is that they are pretty close you could go look at them.

Check with Bascat on the Pantera. If I remember correctly, Basscat offers a lifetime warranty on the Hull for year models starting 2000 and up.

Rudey, Plano Marine is just a few miles away from my office. Let me know if you want me to check it out.

The Pantera look like it is in Beaumont and I would be concerned about use in the bay on that boat so it may have had a lot of exposure to salt water -- scares me.

The Pro-Craft hull looks in good shape but to me that motor looks to be a lot older than a 2000 model.

I just used the Pantera as an example of something that concerns me. I know that usually when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. That Pantera sounded really cheap for that boat. I dunno...maybe it's not.

Better safe than sorry, though, huh?

Mike, I don't want you to go out of your way. But if you do happen to be in the area, would you mind just swinging through and giving it a quick once-over?

Rudey,
I know I guy that has a 18'7"ft 2003 187SC Champion that he might sell. It's in excellent shape has been kept indoors. It has 150hp mercury jack plate, 64lbs Minkota trolling motor. White with Red stripes. It really a nice looking boat. I think he would want around 17k.
