I uploaded the new Hendrix Rods website last night. I still have some work to do on the site with adding pictures of the rods and other stuff but customers can now order from the site with the new model numbers that Michael has created.

I'm excited to be a part of the Hendrix Rods team and I look forward to trying out the product this year. I flipped one of the rods at the tackle show and the sensitivity was awesome. I could feel every imperfection in the floor as I slowly brought the jig back to me. I was impressed with the rods and the story behind the maker. I'll definately keep ya'll posted on how I like fishing with the rods.

Check out the website and give me honest feedback. I know the site is not perfect so your help in identifynig tune up places will be helpful.

Mike the web site looks good. These rods are custome made and are the original G-Loomis blanks before shimmano bought G-loomis. They have a life time warranty no matter how you break them. Feel free to call fishermike and he will be happy to talk to you.

I was looking at them last night. Which one would be light enough for trout but stiff enough for reds? I would think something with a quick tip but still solid backbone? A cArolina rig rod?

I would think it depends more on what baits you are throwing at them. I think the 70M or the 66M would fit for both fish but it would depend more on what weigh lures you will be throwing most.

I was very impressed with the strength of these rods at the tackle show. Castability is one of the characteristics I have not experienced yet.

Triton21:

When Biggun first asked the question, I thought the 844 or 904L (although I'm not a big fan of 2 piece rods).

Can you describe the difference between fast and modified fast?

Thanks

the action of the rod is how much the rod will bend due to the taper of the rod. the slower the taper the less bend. more the taper more of a bend. so fast action the bend will take place closer to the tip.

the power of the rod is how much force needed to bend the rod. a heavy will take a good size fish to put a bend in the rod. a medium does not take a lot of force so it will have more bend. that is why a crank bait rods have more bend.

hope this helps.

Triton21: So does a modified Fast have a faster or slower taper than the Fast?

it has more taper putting the bend a little further back from the fast. a medium would bend more towards the center of the rod.

BTW, Welcome to the site Triton!

I think the 844 would almost be too much rod for me except for pure redfishing?

I think I almost need two rods the 70 ML and the 70m! Heck yeah. :-) Before I fork out that type of cash I think I'll wait until I can check out Picou's rods.

I fished an 844 today pitching a 1/4 oz jig and it is too much rod for speckled trout Bigun. Now, the crankbait rod I was throwing is a great setup for speckle trout but I would be concerned with the ability to drive the hook into a tough redfish's mouth. I will soon be getting a SJ-782 that will probably be the best blend for both applications. It would be better for the redfish but I think it would still be soft enough not to tear up a trout's mouth.

By the time you come to Fork Bigun, I will have a few of the rods for you to check out.

LOL Tex... You'll be the first on my list...

I really like that crank bait rod ( 70ML with Split Handle) that I bought. It casts awesome and is super light.

I made some changes to the home page on Hendrix Rods. I think it is an improvement... :-)

I now have two Hendrix Rods and am very happy with both. My last is the SJ 782 in a spinning rod and it is incredible.

FisherMike will be making me another later this spring for spinnerbaits.

I emailed Mike at H.R. Quick to respond too. The customization they offer is awesome. I'll take your word on the quality. Should be ordering a couple here shortly. Oh, did I mention he is a Navy vet too. Good deal. I have about a month to shop around for gear. My command has ordered me to the base to do some correspondant duties and hopefully improve my knee before I get out. Almost the entire month of March. So, HOOYAH!! To lookin for new toys and some of this short-timer lovin my command is giving me.
