I fished Fork today with great company. Mike Hendrix, Tim Walker, and myself spent 5 or 6 hours on the lake today with only 2 fish to show for it. Water temps were avg 46 & max 48 degrees and the bite was slow, slow, slow. We missed some opportunities to boat more fish but had a great time on the water none the less.

There was no getting out of the wind today. We tried to stay in sheltered water and that took away a lot of the lake for us. Both fish came on crank baits and neither of them were caught by me. :-)

I really like my new Hendrix crankbait rod. It flung those baits well and gave me great sensitivity of what cover I was going through. I was able to cast with my left hand with good accuracy and very little effort. I'll get back on the water soon and hopefully stick some fish with it -- I may need your help on that Bigun... :-) So far, I am very impressed with the rod and after I have fished it a few more times and caught some fish with it I will give a full review. I also fished with one of Mike's 844 series rods with a 10" split handle and really liked it. The handle is a little long for my small frame but the rod performs great. When I get mine with the 8" handle and get back on the water I will be able to provide more info.

Tim and Mike were a ton of fun to be on the water with. A tuff day on the water is always salvaged with good company. Today was a great time and I look forward to the next time I can hop in the boat with them.

Sorry for the breif report but I'm beat and my eyes are closing as I type this... I'll try to expand on the day later.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

It's slow this time of year but you said it best "A tuff day on the water is always salvaged with good company". We are looking forward to your review of the Hendrix rods!

"a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work." did you get some good pictures of the rods? Hopefully I can get some this weekend on Arlington.

I went to Fork Tuesday with Patrick Walsh, IBC member and good friend of tomc_junior.
We started up north and the creek I was fishing in early Jan. was still overly stained. Water was 44-46 in the morning. Caught 1 decent fish there on spinnerbait. Fished every side of every stump in the area with a jig, no takers.
We trailored down to Williams Creek because we knew the wind was going to pick up. Williams was equally as cold at 45 in the late morning. Caught one 19" slot there on a black lizard.
We thought about going into LiL Caney but thought the ride would be to rough coming back out over to Williams, so we moved across to Wolf and picked up 2 fish there on a 3/4 orange/red trap. One was ~5-6 lbs and was best fish of the day. I actually bought a new Berkley scale but did not weigh the fish because it was bleeding. Found water in Wolf to be 48-52 in the afternoon. Also saw a Wave Worm wrapped boat in there; wonder who that was?
Went back over to Williams about 4pm and the water was still 45!
Went to the back of Williams under the bridge and the water was 48. Then went to the house. Need warmer water or a guide, one or the other....
Thanking Him, all day long

Texoma wasn't much better. Fished from daylight till noon and caught 2 fish. One smally and a largemouth. It was good to get the boat out of the shop. Keep those Fork reports coming.

By the way Texoma temp was 43.

Here is the one and only fish picture taken that day on the lake. I pulled out my camera and realized that I forgot my memory card at the house sitting on my keyboard -- DOH...

This is Michael Hendrix (founder of Hendrix Rods) with his contribution of the day landed on a crank bait in 10' of water.

I'll hopefully get back on the lake before Charles and I attend the Media tournament and have more pictures to show.
