It was some tuff fishing on Fork Saturday and the winds were howling most of the day. According to NOAA the winds for Emory, Tx. were up to 31MPH gusts. Fork was rockin & rollin and protected water on the East side of the lake was hard to come by. With 103 boats in the tournament, calm water without a bunch of boats was virtually non-existent. Charles and I started out fishing traps over a large grass bed with timber and quickly boated 2 fish (16 1/4" & 18"). Once the winds started to pick up we were blown off that spot so we moved to a sheltered cove and Charles picked up this fish on a DT-6 crankbait. A 19" fat girl We made the error of moving from this spot to a location we thought would be secluded from the wind and would have warm water but it already had boats in it and the water was cooler than where we had just left. We tried and then moved again and again to no avail. We could not coax another bite out of the fish and time was up. Richard & Michele were in the last flight and brought in 2 fish to weigh for 3.95 I believe and that was enough to get them a check for their efforts -- CONGRATS!!! If I remember correctely, the event payed 21 places and it took 1.68 to get a check. I had a great time fishing with Charles and now we have some catching up to do. At least Media gives attendance points... Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish FTN Webs -- Affordable Small Business & Personal Web Sites

Congrats to Richard and Michele. You should be proud of your performance, job well done. Mike...I had fun and enjoyed the day, thanks! I need to get in fishing shape because I was tired and sore out at the end. Looking back on hindsight I think we should have tied up on the flats and battled the winds. Looking on the bright side. we didn't sink or brake anything on the boat. |

Now it is safe to say all the things that were discussed before we left the ditch... Next month will be a whole new ballgame. My guess is there will be a lot of limits weighed in and we are going to be one of those teams... Looks like Charles and I tied for 28th place out of 109 total entries... I have to compliment my driver for the day, lots of people were talking about how beat up they got running the lake and how wet they got. We made a pretty good run down Big Caney and although we got some spray it was not too bad of a ride because he took it easy and drove the boat right for the conditions. Way to handle the boat buddy!!! Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish FTN Webs -- Affordable Small Business & Personal Web Sites

Brenda and I drove out to weigh-in. Oz and Michele finished 6th place for $650. Husband-wife teams finished 1st, 2nd and 6th. There was a fish over 10 lbs. caught by the first place team. I think 14 something won it, followed by the only 5 fish limit for second place. Thanking Him, all day long --- tomc

Thanks to all of you!! Michele and I really had a good time considering the wind nearly beached us several times. I didn't realize the fishing was that tough until I went to weight-in and PQ said I might get a check with 4lbs. WOW, I guess it was bad for everyone 80 teams zero'd. I was blessed by the two fish I had. Looks like the team with the girl in the boat take an early lead!! (I just had too ;) OzzieFish "In GOD I trust"

Congrats to both for catching some fish on a cold windy day. When's the next one? If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/

March 17th is the next event for the slot lakes division on Fork. Barring any more major cold fronts, the fishing should be great. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish FTN Webs -- Affordable Small Business & Personal Web Sites
