So - I am looking for some feedback regarding a few issues I am having with my new Ranger 2300 Bay. In early July I bought this boat from Travis Boating Center in Houston. I typically fish once per week in the bay and/or offshore but have only had it in my posession for about 4 or 5 weeks - all of the other time it has been in for service repairing things. I have fished 4 times now. So far I have had 2 area's where the gelcoat is cracking, The raw water washdown system is broken, trailer brake cable came loose and was dangling under the trailer, The front livewell drain line is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch and has blocked up from fish scales and/or shrimp parts twice now, the swim ladder has come loose and is rusting and streaking rust down the transom, the r on the Ranger decal is coming off, the screws that hold the cap on the transom keep coming out, the anchor (standard 13# from academy) must be carfully maneuvered into the anchor locker in order to get it to fit in there (and it is tight after that), because of the position of the anchor in the anchor locker (laying flat) the bottom of the anchor is damaging the back fiberglass wall in the locker, We took a few inches of water over the bow running about 25mph in 1-2ft seas (ouch), we took water over the bow while idling through a ship's wake, the mounting design of the acces door and tackle box on the center console uses plastic studs to hold them on - so far one has broken off and some of the others keep coming loose (of the ones I can reach), the boat will only reach 43mph with a 250hp 4 stroke Suzuki (I was told the boat would reach at least 50 and maybe 55 by the salesman), The boat cavitates pretty easily when in sharp turn, when the trailer is cranked up off of the truck the crank leans so much that even 2 people cannot roll the trailer, while off shore the bilge pump was operating frequently, and finally - the pedistal seat holes on the decks do not drain at all! I have written Ranger and they tell me that they will repair the Gel-Coat and the dealer will resolve the issue with the ladder, repair the stud and tighten loose ones, fix the trailer cable, fix the decal, make some fix for the crank, check for leaks, and fix the washdown. They tried telling me that the livewell issue is a conversion from the dealer and they would be responsible for that. They tried telling me that the loose ladder and rust are an issue for the dealer sinse they installed it, and so on... What do you all think about that? Are there any places I can see what my rights as a boat buyer are? Do I have any recourse? |

This just really crawls under my skin, I would expect Travis Boats and Ranger to be better than this. Hopefully Rudey, Charles, and others will chime in and give their opinions. What is the latest from the dealer? Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I would say the gelcoat cracking is definatly unacceptable. It's understanding that it can be fixed but won't last. Your other issues sound like poor make ready on Travis part. Good luck, it sounds like you have a battled on your hands. Dang'it Rudey,Greg and mike look like ooompa loompas from Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory up against Charles !!!!

Go to www.bassboatcentral.com and click on the new BBC board, then click on the Ranger Board. Post there what you posted above and see what responses you get. A lot of times Ranger dealers themselves post contact info for people at Ranger Boats for you to get in touch with. I've owned a Ranger boat for years and one thing Ranger takes pride in is customer satisfaction. I've had work done on my boat and a lot of times Ranger wouldn't even charge me for it. Good Luck |
