I once read that you should submit fishing plans to OzzieFish prior to going out and executing, just to make sure you were not going down a stray path.

Palestine coming up this weekend, water temps in the 60's, lake at normal pool (maybe on the rise due to recent rains), lots of warm weather going into the tournament.

I'm thinking upper end of Neches, sight fishing for a pig, shallow crank baits to pick off a few aggressive males, maybe some twitchin with a clown rouge, if all else fails chunkin a dang old red rattle trap.

Question is what would Ozzie do?

If I know him...he would go north throw spinner baits, lizards and floating worms. If going south look for ditches and work you way back with Lizards, floating worms, flukes too. once you caych a fish work the area real good and pick up everything you can.

Dennis, I saw this and thought about you for this weekend:

Date Fished: 3/15/2007
Water Temperature: 67
Water Clarity: 1 foot

Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine Hello Everybody,

Zechariah 12: Verse 10; And I will pour upon the house of David, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication: and they shall look upon Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him; as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for His firstborn.

Well Lake Palestine is gearing up for the Spawn as the Bigger Female Bass move to the shallows to prepare tp spawn. Water temps are in the upper 60\\'s and when you get out of the main creek channels off on the flats you can find some great water in spite of recent run offs. Bass came in up to 6 lbvs. this week with stories of 8 lb. Bass being caught and one fellow told me about a Bass He said would weigh in at 12 lbs. broke off on his partner.

Bass were hitting Nichols sinkers a senko type bait in watermelon Candy and Green Pumpkin Pepper. Small downsized spinner baits caught good bass around flooded brush and grass back in the coves.

Next few weeks should be great for Bass on Lake Palestine.

LAKE FAIRFIELD: The flood hit Tuseday nite and the Bite went from excellent to poor. The Lake rose about 2 feet Tuesday nite and I feel personally the acids in the new water and whatever, runs the Bass out for about a week. A rain turns them on but a flood runs them off to deeper water till the Lake stabilizes.

A took a great Family out this week wed. The Humanns with Jamie the little girl losing anbout a 6 lb. Bass as it saw the boat after an exciting jump and broke her line. Later in the day Jamie recovered with a 3.4 lb. Redfish that bit a Nichols Creature bait in watermelon Candy rigged on a carolina rig in 13 feet of water. Thanks to Allison and Aaron Humann.

The same hole produced a drag ripping 5 lb. Redfish for Cody Johnston. Bass fishing was tough Wednesday.

Thursday took Virgil Mikeska and friend Shawn out and the bite was the toughest I have ever experienced on Lake Fairfield. Not one Bass in the boat.Ouch that will hurt any Guides pride. To say the bite was tough is puttting it mildly. The clients understood about the flood and sudden change in the Lake and I took them a couple of extra hours to try not to skunk out but it was fruitless. God bless them for their understanding and give them some 10 lb. Bass days in Jesus name.

Water will stabilize in about a week and the Bass will bite again. Some people were using worms and shrimp fished on bottom and catching loads of catfish and an occassional red.

Lake Palestine is on now so give me a call and lets go catch some Bass. You can book a trip by calling 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203. Thanks and remember Jesus loves you and the devil is a liar. Thanks -

I spent the last few hours of daylight today searching for some water that did not look like chocalote milk.

Everything in the upper end is (Neches, Kickapoo, Flat Creek) had less then 1 foot of visability.

Last stop was in Ledbetter & Highsaw, seen a few fish on beds and water had no stain to speak of.

Looks like day one will be started in these two areas. I will keep you posted.

You and Charles need to step up and knock OzzieFish off the podium tomorrow. - Good Luck!

As previously stated, North portion of lake had too much color for me so I ventured South (mid lake) Highsaw / Ledbetter creeks.

10 fish total, 3 that weighed for a total of 5.74

(1) 1.25-lb fish on watermelon/red - Ribbit off of flat in 2 feet water
(1) 1.5-lb fish on gold/orange - Rouge off of flat in 2 feet water
(1) 1-lb fish on pumpkin seed trick worm on boat dock in 3-5 feet water
(1) 1.25-lb fish on watermelon trick worm on boat dock in 3-5 feet water
(2) 2-lb fish on green pumpkin trick worm on boat dock / grass line in 3 feet water
(4) fish between 1 to 1.25-lbs on green pumpkin trick worm on boat docks in 3-5 feet water

Nothing big at the scales, 1st place had 4 fish in 9.25-lb total weight range with 3.85 big bass.
