1st of all it's good to read up on a little perch jerkin for the 1st time in a long time!

Got a company fishin trip out to Fork this weekend and I'm lookin to do a little crappie fishin. I don't know much about it, but I'm goin to get some new line for the spinnin rigs tonight, and some jigs and minner hooks.

What depth might I start lookin for'em?
Are they done spawning?
Best way to rig minners?
Spots????

Probly harrass the bass a little while we're there if anyone has had any luck recently, I could certainly use any advice on them too.

Havn't been in a long time, but I'm lookin forward to it.

It may still be a little early but I would try for the crappie under the bridges first.

I don't spend much time chasin crappie on Fork. For the bass, there are probably still some fish on beds and then some moving out to deeper water. Carolina Riggin the grass would probably be a good bet with french frys or trick worms. There is always a chance for early morning and evening topwater bites also on pop-r or buzzbait if you have some breeze. Main lake points and secondary points.

Where are ya'll staying?
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Dale, bass are good in the mornings on topwaters (buzzbaits and spooks) I think in the tournament I fished this weekend we had 7 before day light and one was 9.2 lbs but only 23 1/2 inches long on a buzzbait. After that if you want to catch fish slow down with a wacky rig trick worm around grass with trees amongst the grass. For crappie I have been seeing people catching them around the docks. I went by one dock the other day and there must have been 20 people on it. Maybe drinking and have fun but they had a ton of corks in the water so there must have been fish there. Hope this helps you out.

D'Mo, You better stick to some minner's and a cane pole. Easier to keep a Stone in one hand! :-)

Good luck this weekend.

Zeeter - Did you catch that 9.2 lb fish in Mustang creek?

FYI on Fork - 1st cove on left entering Mustang Creek has bass on beds as of this past weekend along with 1st cove (concrete retaining wall area) & 2nd cove (up on the reeds) on left entering into Pinson Creek . I threw at a pig for 3 hours and could never get her to bite, I guestimate her to be 12+.

Bass Hunter- I did actually catch her in Big Mustang at about 6:20 am (1st fish of the day). Thurs and Fri found a ton of fish stacked in one area. Some spawning fish feeding up in the morning and some post spawn fish moving out I think, but it was weird most of our fish came from one area ,only until 9:00am, about the size of 50ft by 50ft (small area)on the edge of grass in about 8-10ft of water. As for the pigs on beds.... I too saw a couple of fish that I would say were over fish but just not locked down. Frustrating uh Basshunter when you see probably a $3000.00 fish that won't do ----.

I had no doubt D'Mo! I'll be thinking about you when I'm wearing out the speckle trout this weekend.

Hey Dale, try and get some fishing done this time.

Vince went out last night and killed the crappie. Here, they are getting ready to move shallow and do the nasty.

Good luck at Fork
