For those of you who have seen and casted my light crankbait rod, the 70ML is it. It can also double as a drop shot rod.... You can get the handle in 8", 10", or 12".

I love my 70ML, it chunks those light cranks effortlessly and accurately. Extrememly sensitive, and the tip is soft enough to wiggle that drop shot without moving the weight.

This is a 20%+ savings on these rods and if they ever break, Mr. Hendrix will replace them at no charge -- no questions asked.

I need a new rod for a recent Curado 200. Where can I place my order? It's going to see some serious surf side work this summer. I put stuff to the limit when I'm on my game....wait and see :-)

The 844 Series, 7ft, Fuji's BLNAG guides and diamonds like my pattern here (I wrapped this one several years ago on a 1 piece Fenwick surf rod). I don't have the time to build one right now and I need a quality rod fairly fast, Mr. Hendrix's work looks great and my surf season is right around the corner.

One of my old Fenwick's. This blank below (3 pics) has been hanging on my Dad's wall, unfished for way too many years. She's going out with my other two Fenwicks this season for a total of three surf sets. I like to keep the red, white, blue and yellow color scheme if it's at all possible. What ever Mr. Hedrix's wants to do with guide wraps are fine with me following the yellow base and blue guide wraps. These colors should jump out on a black blank but if the yellow is prone to color leaks on black, we can change it up to keep the FlexCoat leak in check. I know his work is top notch. Heck my work is top notch when I put the time in...I don't have the time right now LOL!

Glad to help a brother out and I will fish his work with honor! I may see if he can build me a custom casting blank for my ABU 7500CT Big Game as well. The 7'6" Heavy on his web site is a little too short for what I want to do with the 7500CT. A blank that can chunk 1 - 4 ounce's of lure with about 10ft in length (1 or 2 piece) with Hypalon Grips (better wear), fast action and a good middle section spine is the setup I need for big jackfish, tarpon and kings in the surf with a fairly light rod for a lot of work long casting. The Fenwicks are a tad too heavy for long stints casting and the new graphite stuff is so light, I need to take advantage of it for lures. The EGlass is great for live/dead bait soaks but casting them for anything over an hour simply wear you out!

On the bigger blank, I need the long length for long casts to cover a lot of water and the extra length is way better in surf for control and distance. Casts over 120 yards are normal with fast retrieves skipping lures on top or just below the surface on short steel or heavy mono leaders. The 7500CT will have a big top shot of mono (working end) with a lot of PowerPro as backing to give me a few hundred more yards of total line for fights. As long as I can keep the mono shooting through the guides with the PowerPro backing only coming out on long runs with bigger fish, it should all work out. I do this now with my shark rods and it's cheap enough to use PowerPro as backing since you never really wear it out till the big boys get hooked up. It ONLY comes off the spool on those long first few runs till you can get control of the situation...If you can get control LOL!

Here's the thread pattern on that Fenwick that needs some fishing time. The Guides wraps have a yellow base with blue guide wraps. Touch up threads are optional with variations on the other colors. The pattern I'm looking for on the 844 series for the Curado 200. I'm putting a tarpon on the sand this summer come hell or high water PQ. It's my goal this season in the surf.

Here's my other two Fenwicks to match the one above. I have a few custom plug rods I've built to match but they are already matched for other reels. I need something for the Curado 200SF (844 Series) and the 7500CT Big Game (10ft graphite something or other. Simply fresh blanks to fill gaps in what I need this season.

You know me, I'll fish them proudly with Pixels galore if I score. I'm going to score LOL!

used the 70ml this weekend, what a great crankbait rod. has great tip action and enough power to get the job done. the 7' 6" swim bait rod has no problem launching 6" swim baits. ended up putting 3" swim bait on and wore out the sand bass. fishermike has great deal on both rods.

PQ,

Any chance you could make arrangments for a test drive on the swim bait rod before I purchased one?

I still need to try your crankbait rod. Need to buy me one or three of those as well!

Rob, I just got off the phone with him talking about PINS... You know I want to amigo, just hard to get the time away with everything else going on. I have to be careful with those weekend kitchen passes you know.... :-)

Charles, I can certianly work on that test drive and he has a 70ML crankbait rod with your name on it. 10" solid handle already wrapped and ready to go. I told him not to sell it until I talked to you. All yours for the low, low price of $135. Don't worry about paying shipping because I'll hand deliver.

We are going to cash a check on Fork in May & June with these crankbait rods...

Thanks guys! Kevin looking forward to giving her a run for the money. I know the rod will handle it along the coast, I'm worried about the Shimano 200S LOL! Might have to go with the ABU Record 50 if it boils down to it. We shall see.

Rob, I used to live in Rockport...all i throw is shimano. I don't know about all the new reels, but all my old curados and such are still holding up extremely strong, even after using them heavily on the coast for a year. You're right though, I'd be more worried about the reels than the rods lol. Mike's rods are unbelievable. I think last time I talked to him about it, he had a .5% return rate on his rods. That just shows the quality of the rod he makes, because most of the people I know that own them fish very hard and atleast 3 times a week.

Good to see you back around Kevin... Maybe you can join fishermike on a trip down to PINS and get some sand between your toes again while hooking into those giant sharks Rob is so good at getting into.

On the swimbait rods, one of them is sold now so there is only one swimbait rod left at this great price. The crankbait rods (70ML) are still available for a limited time at the sale price.

Kevin it's line cap on the Shimanos. They cast extremely well but working baits in the surf, you never know if and when a 20-30lb jackfish will hammer you for at least 250 yards of run. I've hooked 4ft hammerheads tossing Rattle traps and landed them on an ABU 5000 frame. Course I had to wade out to the 3rd sandbar to keep the line on. Got there managed to get him turned and worked back in to the sand for the land. Those round reels have just a tad bit more line cap and there are times you get down to the last few turns on a reel if you win. Inshore bays and working trout & redfish, not a problem but that surf zone can surprise you real fast and even when your targeting trout, snook or redfish. That bait can get sucked down by things you wouldn't expect to hit the bait. Hammerheads are known to hit lures with abandon and even the little guys are a lot of fish on bass tackle. I had a 6ft blacktip hit another trap and exploded out 100 yards before I broke off quickly casting the 2nd gut off Corpus one afternoon. I was lucky enough I had a good grip on the rod, the strike was unbelievable.

I've been spooled 4 times on big rods, 11ft blanks, single piece, 30 lb test, 400-600 yards of line spooled. All gone...all of it in literally minutes. One fish off Cape Hatteras hit my Newell 338, rolled out 3/4 spool before he realized he had an issue. Then he hit the afterburner headed to the French coast LOL! I keep going back :-)

:-) The drags don't hold as much as the line cap but I wear a glove now and hammer the thumb at the end of the run to put pressure on. Heck, a Penn 12/0 only dishes out about 30lbs of drag and most fish 80lb test line on those reels. The reel caves in before the rest of your gear will...not counting nicks, abrasion and that sort of stuff on the line.

PQ it's a different game at 100+lbs of PO'd shark :-) These 4 fish went well beyond 100lbs since I've landed a few at that range on these same reels. Don't know how big, never saw them but I will never forget and I burned my thumb on 3 of the 4 LOL!

I've now gone to PowerPro as backing and top shot mono. Triple the line cap on reels. Change out mono when it wears out. Love the new Spectra lines for this type of fishing.

For most saltwater stuff, you need at least 200 yards of line on a reel to play the game. That's not much after a long cast and some of these new reels will crank casts way out there. My ABU Record 50 will crank out 80 yard casts, 1 ounce of weight with a tail wind on one of my EGlass Fenwick customs.
