Mother's Day found me with the job of getting the kids out of momma's hair! :-) Me and my 3 kids, wife's sister and husband, and their son Duncan took off to go play at the beach Sun afternoon and do some surf fishing. My wife wanted to stay home and relax. It was Joshua's first time in a boat and one I will never forget. He was not sure what to think about it at first but now is a well seasoned vet. The fishing was real slow but the kids had an absolute blast until the ride home! Around 6 pm, we were getting ready to head back to the boat when I heard the first sound of thunder and looked back North and could see a storm brewing over land. By the time we got the boat moving I could tell this was the mother of all storms and the kids did not care for that much. It then built up South of us unbelievably quick and luckily the lightening was out that way cuz we had to go North. I was able to run around it for a long way but when we got hit it was not pretty. The rain was so heavy I could barely see. I'm pretty sure we either went through a small water spout or was very near one. The sound of a train whistle was heard in way too open of water! Just followed the GPS line knowing we were out in open water and luckily it cleared up before we hit the coast. But we all lived to go back another day. This was the second worst storm I've ever been in out in this open of water and not something looking forward to again for a while!

Glad everyone made it back safe. Joshua will be ready for his captain license with a few more trips like that.

By the way Wade, nice pics. See I told you that camera is not hard to operate. :-)

Great job.

Glad everybody made it in safe, those fast moving storms can be very scary for sure.

Looks like a great time was had -- except for the ride back. Great to see the smiles on the kid's faces...

If I was out in a storm like that, you would be the boat captain of choice to get me back safe. I'm looking forward to hearing the kid's side of the story... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I told Caroline people pay good money for the adreneline rush she got from the ride. She stated back "I would not pay anything to go thru that again." :-)

Mike I would probably be the wrong captain. There was a camp about 1/2 mile away we could have went to and I did not think about it!

I forgot to mention I should have known better after riding through a hail storm on the way back in on Saturday's charter! I just beat the main part of that storm in. It was worse than what I went thru Saturday but I was safe and secure in the boat shed. We have had three serious wind, rain, and lightening storms three days in a row.
