I went to Lake Pat Mayes on Monday to fish our club tournament. The lake is about a foot high with flooded grass everywhere. The water was very clear which suprised me considering all the rain we have had recently.

I started off flipping flooded grass and pulled in a solid 2 lber to start the morning off on the right foot. We had good cloud cover to begin the day so I switched to a white spinnerbait and caught a 3+ and one that almost went 5. Needless to say I was pretty happy to have 10 lbs in the first 1 1/2 hours.

Once the clouds left we went back to flipping the grass. We were able to get on a good pattern and I had a 5 lber in the boat for fish number 4. I had my 5th fish shortly after and started on culling.

My dad was fishing with me so I put him at the front of the boat and worked with him on his flipping. I pointed out some good spots to pitch and he was able to get a couple of 3 lbers in the boat. He was happy to get some fish in the well so I went back to work on improving my limit. After moving around a couple of times I was able to replace my three 2 lbers with 3 lbers. I ended up catching 10 keepers on the day with my best 5 weighing 19.04 lbs. My dad ended up with 3 fish for 7.40 lbs.

Here's my dads to biggest.

Very nice. Man, it's been years since I fished that lake. Sounds like they are a few fish in there still...

Way to go Mark... 19 pounds is a very solid sack and you definately have them figured out over there. Congrats on putting your dad on some good fish also and undoubtedly that will help you with your AOY race.

How did Rumb do? Did Robert fish this one?

Great job buddy!!!

Rumb got kicked in the ol' sack:-) I did everthing Mark did and in the same areas, only managed two keepers for 5.25 which was still good enough for 6th place I think. We tore up the Chain Pickerel but just couldn't get it going. First time I've been out in a couple of years and did not catch any fish pitchin'/flipin and didn't catch any under fish either. Had almost Seventeen pounds last year, we just didn't get it done this time.
Mark you're my hero....now go find a new club to fish in you sorry dog....:-)
