My buddy Ron and I headed out to Texoma Monday night for some smallmouth action. I started off around 8:00 by myself and boated 3 smallmouth and 2 spots.

Ron showed up around 10:00 so I went back to the ramp and picked him up. We went back to work in a cove near Eisenhower and Ron picked up a good little largemouth. As we headed back out into the main lake we started getting the smallmouth again but they were mostly unders. We went into our next cove and Ron picked up a solid keeper smallmouth.
nice smallmouth

We proceded to catch a mix of smallmouth and stripers in the area. We worked the area pretty good and decided to move on to new water. After a slow period we found a good point with fish and Ron caught this 3.12lb smally.
big smallmouth

At this point I was getting frustrated that I couldn't get a big fish. We had caught plenty of fish but I wanted a big one so we went to one of my old favorite spots and I finally connected with a 3.13lb.
My smally

We fished another half hour with no bites and with the storms coming in we decided to call it a night. We ended up with 22 bass(smallmouth and spots) and about the same number of stripers and sandbass. Not bad for the first trip of year.

Excellent!!!

Sorry Tex, I just can't come up with anything clever for the opening line... :-)

Congrats on what looks like a great night of fishing on Texoma. Those are some great smallmouths and from the sounds of it ya'll had a pretty solid time of catching fish. Thanks for the pics and bringin back to us.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Mike, let me know if you want to try a night trip sometime. The smallmouth fishing should be pretty good through the end of June. I have a tournament the first weekend of June. After that I'm free for the rest of the month.

I know it's hard to get you away from Fork but if your interested let me know.

I will check out what is going on and we will make it happen Tex. It has been too long since you and I spent some time in the boat catching fish.

Great job Mark! Are you sure yours was bigger than Ron's?:-) If you hold yours closer next time it might look 3.14!

Everythings official when me and Ron fish. He was killing me on the big fish so I may have pulled on the fish a little while I was weighing him.:-) I had to come home with something to brag about.

Too bad the lake is going to be a mess this weekend. I was looking forward to some good action. This rain will probably mess up my smallmouth bite. I just hope the backup spots will produce something.
