This is kinda like fishing :-) Picou and I are headed out today to go bowfishing for alligators. We got drawn for one of the public hunts. Picou went alligator hunting a couple of years ago and got one, but now with a bow.
Not sure if we will get a gator, but I know we will have a good time. We will post some pics when we get back. |

Kinda like fishing, we will be using a fishing pole to hopefully lure them to the boat... 
We may make a run to the cut and see if we can catch some flounder, reds, specks, etc... We will be around Beaumont/Port A. area. Anyone have any ideas of where to fish down there?

Good luck with the gators fellas! Had a 13 footer checking me out while I was wading (1/2 mile frome the boat) on my last trip to the coast.

We are back and I was just too whooped to download pics last night. It was a great hunt and we ended up with only that one gator that Wes stuck. I had one on the line but he came off. I think I shot under him and the line wrapped in his leg or something. When I pulled him up the first time I thought the arrow was thru the leg so I let go and we started to get things together. The next time I pulled him up he came off at the boat -- catch and release gator hunting...
I promise to have a writup with pictures in the near term. Let me just say this... That was by far the hardest we have probably ever worked to harvest an animal. We did learn quickly how to use a push pole...

BTW, I was thinking hard about living with you this week. My wife does not want to leave and has to be back immediately for insurance catastrophe reasons as you can imagine. Caroline wants to ride horses desperately and is bugging me to my grave! If the storm does not kill me, her annoyance will. |

Come on over... I think that storm will probably come into New Orleans and that means that ya'll will be getting some serious winds and a lot of rain -- probably get that no matter where it comes ashore.
Kajun_girl, I promise you will get to ride a horse when you come see us.
Now, for the alligator report, sorry fellas... I had a severe delay yesterday when the school called to tell us that my daughter's finger was probably broken. We spent all afternoon at either the doctors or the hospital. Now we are waiting on an orthopedic Dr. appt. to set her finger. She has had to deal with it broken since about 1:00pm yesterday. I have her here at work with me today until we get the call. Here are the only pictures I have had time to resize to this point.

She was as strong as an Ox at the doctors. She cried a little being scared of the needle but once we got over that she was singing "ouchy, ouchy, ouchy..." while he was giving her the shots in her wrist. (5 or six shots in the wrist) We did several rounds of x-rays and Jessica actually watched him re-set the finger. All the nurses were telling her she did great and congradulating us on how great she did.
No sports for 6 weeks minimun and we go back for x-rays next week. Great excuse for me to take her to the deer lease with me in October instead of the soccer games...  With her hand splinted and wrapped, she will no be able to hold a fishing pole for some time either. Maybe in a few weeks she can at least start riding her horse again though.
Needless to say, I am very proud of her....
Tonight I will write up the report from the alligator hunt.

Sounds like she did great, to bad for her she can't play sportsd for awhile, but atleast she can do some extra hunting

She is doing great, we went this morning for more X-rays and everything is in order. We will do the weekly checkups for 4 weeks.
