My nephew Andrew and myself went put some hurt on some reds today in the Gatortail. All fish caught and released (and not in the ice chest PQ) by 8:15 am and all caught on gold spoons. Had to cover a lot of water and missed a whole bunch of fish early but they seemed to bite better as the morning went. Man WAS IT HOT OUT TODAY!

These trout were not as lucky today. Caught the first 25 bouncing Deadley Dudley blue moons on the beach and the next 25 on live minnows under corks. Fish were smoking today along with the heat.

Big, ya wadin' Timbalier? Sure miss that place. T-roy said the old house boat burned down. Man, that was some "good times"! Where the heck have you been? You have not had a post in while. Ya layin' low?

Good mess of fish! McNew called me this morning from the boat in Mobile. He had his limit (10) of trout by 8:30 this morning. None of the fish were under 18". The biggest was 24". He has been puttin' the hurt on 'em the last couple of weekends.

Laying low. Charter fishing has been slow the last three weekends on top of I went to Kansas for a week. Trout fishing some oyster reefs and beach well West of Timbalier but Gerald has wade fished Timbalier some. I've been wanting too but it is getting late in the summer now for the big boys over there.

I can't believe McNew could catch a cold! :-)

I ran a charter for one of my wife's friends who wanted to bring his father in law and F-I-L's dad for just a part day of fishing. They ended up catching 69 trout today by 10 am and were ready to get out of the heat so we went back home. A good storm blew through the marina about the time I was finished washing the boat in the boat shed and someone out on the water got hit by lightening. The guys I talked to said he was in pretty bad shape and was waiting on AirLift out of there. Be careful on the water guys. Nothing worth catching when the lightening popping.

Big, I can't tell you how many times I have been caught in lightening. If I hear thunder in the distance, I start looking for refuge or get closer to the ramp. I know of two people hurt or killed by lightening. If you work or play outdoors, your chances are pretty good your going to get caught.

McNew is a pretty good fisherman. He loves fishing with the marsh crickets! He's all about the catching and not the fishing though. He'll put on the trailer a heck of a lot sooner than I would.

His camera ain't broke after all...

Man that looks like a ton of fun there Bigun... I love the color of those redfish and ya'll caught some solid ones. Great job on the reds and the trout action. Looks like Andrew had a great time and the fishing is red hot right now -- as usual down there...

Thanks for the pixels and recap!!!
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Apparently there was two people in the boat hit by lightening. The lightening went through the rods through the arms and out the chest area. One was more severly injured than the other person. I was told the one guy's arms and chest were charred black but apparently both lived. Scary stuff.

Darn that's pretty scary Wade. Lightning scares the woolies out of me. Just glad they survived the strike. That's rare...very rare and many don't.

Your having an awesome summer this year. This cooler than average weather must have the trout inside well beyond what y'all typically see?

I'm headed to PINS tomorrow, packing my gear up now and the plan is to flex to the conditions and fish accordingly. Big tackle and casting tackle for a mix and sporting a new underwater camera too. Hope to have some action shots and a few bent rods. Rain and surf = good fishing. I'm going to chase snook, tarpon and King Macs off the Port Mansfield jetties with a few new tricks. I picked up a 10.5 graphite and will blast cast lures (3 ounces) with the Big Game 7500CT. We shall see...looking forward to it.

Yeh it was fun going up to Louisiana and going fishing. It was REALLY nice to see all the family again. Mike you need to make a trip to Florida or Louisiana some time. Uncle Wade was saying you were thinking about it sometime.
