This year has been so busy for me that I havn't had time to do any fishing. I finally took 3 days off and headed to Baffin Bay with my fiance, mom & dad, my brother and his wife, and my youngest brother and his girlfriend for a weekend of relaxation. We didn't fo out on the bay, we opted to rent a house with a private pier and fish under the lights at night. We averaged somewhere between 250-300 trout a night. Even with those kind of numbers we only managed 6 keeper trout that were between 15" and 16". It was a lot of fun catching the small fish on light weight spining tackle. Even though we didn't catch a bunch of keepers we all had a blast. Most of the fish were caught on small plastic touts rigged two to a line and a bunch caught on live shrimp. I did catch the big fish of the weekend, but it was about 3 lb. mullet that I somehow foul hooked with a tout (single hook) in the tail. I really thought I had hooked into a redfish. I was a little dissappointed when I found out what it was, but he did put up a good fight. I will post a few pics once my brother e-mails them to me. The ladies were just having fun catching hardheads, sheeps head, and small black drum on dead shrimp. Vegatarian: Indian Word for Bad Fisherman | ||

LOL! BigUn absolutely classic right there. Yup, Wilma is moving up in the world - SON!  Heck of a trip in spite of the size situation. Numbers = a ton of fun and it's July....it's tough fishing with all those little guys getting hammered just outside the lights by the big trout. Next time, go long or fish the light edges near cover and work a live piggy perch or slow fish a rattling topwater (mullet shape) and see what happens. I may need to swing down Galveston way and fish with PQ when he gets set up during vacation. | ||

Glad that you were able to get out and have a great time. I hope to do a lot of fishing next week at the beach house. If I have internet connection I will certianly keep ya'll updated with pics and stories.  Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish |
