Ever since Oz posted about catching that big fish out of his 2 man boat I have been trying to get out on a local park lake to see if I could have similar luck. The lake is reported to have 10+ fish in it but I had never fished it except for trout.

I talked my dad into going with me and we got on the lake Tuesday evening around 6:00. Fishing was slow for the first couple of hours with only the pearch hitting our worms. I switched to spinners, crankbaits and topwaters but still could not get bit. I went back to the worm and my dad finally caught a small bass. I threw into the same area and hooked into a fish as well. I didn't think he was much until he shot out of the water and I could see he was a big fish. He proceeded to pull the boat in circles until she finally tired down. I forgot to bring the scale but I figured she went around 6-7 lbs. Although I forgot the scales I did remember the camera. The image is a little blurry since I had the camera in my cooler.

We fished a little longer and Dad caught this nice little bass.

We ended up with 5 fish which was disappointing for a small lake but the big fish more than made up for it. It was good enough that I will for sure be going back. It's also a nice alternative to fishing the big lakes.

Fishing with dad is always a great time. The bass was just a bonus. Good going Tex!

Great job Tex, I bet that was a ball fishing that hole. Especially not having to dig into the wallet for gas money.... :-)

Congrats on a great time with your dad. I think it is awesome how often ya'll get to fish together. Thanks for thinking of us and posting the pictures.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
