It has been a great time so far with a lot of fishing and a lot of great eating. The internet connection here absolutely sucks at a whopping 19.6 Kbps so I will not be spending much time on the internet.

Sunday we arrived and after dinner I met up with a Texas Rodbenders regular called "West Ender" who owns a canal house in Sea Isle. We fished the green lights in the canals and ended up with some nice trout to start the trip off right.

Unfortunately, I stayed up all night fishing and when Bigdog from TRB called me at 8:00 in the morning for an off shore trip I was out of it. Apparently they slayed the kings and snapper and I hear that I am getting beat up on TRB right now... :-)

Monday night I took Connie flounder gigging and I stuck a 16" flounder in the hour or so we walked. It was highly entertaining to watch Connie freak out at everything -- including the snake that swam into our lights... :-) We fished some bayside overhead lights with a friend of mine and she caught sandtrout and small specks almost every cast. We finished off the nights with a stop off at West Ender's green light and caught a keeper trout and came back to the house around 1:30am.

Tuesday we fried fish early and I met up with Dean and we headed out to the jetties in his boat and landed some nice trout up to 22 inches and I brought home these great fish.

Wednesday it was time to spend the day with the family and we headed to Freeport to catch a mess of crabs for the pot. My neice and nephew are staying with us here at the beach and they had never been crabbing. We had a ball out there catching a ton of crabs including 21 keepers that we boiled up last night.

Today I am meeting Dean and his wife at the ramp in Freeport and we are headed offshore for some snapper, kings, and hopefully dorado. I think he said the plan is to go out 20 - 30 miles so we will see.

Ya'll have a great week and I will report back in when I get a chance.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Like this King...

I have not been to TRB to check out the harrassment but West Ender told me about it...

I'll give a full report on the day's adventure offshore fishing. Let's just say, we caught some fish... :-)

Inshore/Offshore You are tearing up some fish. That is a big king. Too bad they don't taste like those trout. Can't wait to hear the rest of the story.

It looks like you are catching the heck out of the fish this time down. You might want to give the surf a try before you head out. By looking at the webcams down that way, the surf if FLAT!!

Did you ever fish the sea isle pier? My family and I are coming down Wednesday and staying in a beach front home in Sea Isle. I'm hoping the surf holds till I get down there.

Good going Picou. Looks like one heck of a time. You need to give me directions to your secret crab hole before I head down.hehe

Johnny, give me a call and I will direct you to the crabbing spot. It is best on a high tide or when the tide is coming in. 214-738-4508

I fished the pier one time and it was littered with small specks and sand trout. I gave up on the fishing after Thursday and have only been out in the surf with cut mullet looking for sharks. I caught a small blacktip and a 3.5' hammer head. The water is flat and clear right now and the bait is thick. I just don't feel like messing with it... :-) I have slept in the last couple of mornings and just relaxed. :-) We have bags of fish left and have eaten fish 4 nights.

We are having a great time and I have the writeup done for the offshore trip that I will be posting shortly.

I forgot to mention that we cooked a medley of fish last night -- grilled snapper, fried angle fish, fried kingfish balls, and grilled bacon wrapped kingfish. Connie made a red wine butter cream sauce to accompany the choices. It was all delicious...
