How do you catch Dorado.

We were out about 25mi and the Chicken Dolphin were swimming by us occasionally at a big pattie but they would just swim by our baits like they were not even there. We managed 5 or 6 but even with one in the water they would not stick around. Almost like they were in a hurry to get somewhere.

Also - how do you find the bigger ones and when you do will there be a school of them or are they solo? When you do - what is a good bait?

How and where do you troll for them? What bait do you need to use? Where do you look for them?

We had a great day - regardless. Cought 2 kind of snapper, trigger, king, and small dorado.

I'm no expert but am under the impression they use the same plastic baits they use for trout for chicken dolphin. I know several guys who use topwater plugs for the bigger ones. The only way I've caught either is trolling marlin baits so not much help? I know people who fish offshore tell me if they decide they are not eating they are not eating.

Great haul there Dean, looks like you and Susie had a some fun.

On the dorado, Dad use to catch them with speck rigs. I was told that the A&M Bouy is the place for dorado and the occassional bull also. You may need to look up the location but it is out of Freeport.

Congrats on another great day offshore...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I have used spec rigs but the hooks get broken off when they go different directions. This day the bait fish were taking the spec rigs before the dorado had a chance. Probably should have tried bass assasins or something?
