Seems like i always struggle to catch a few fish, especially if I have my son, Dillon with me. He is 13 now. I'm getting old! Had a tip from a friend for a pattern that was really hot on fork last week. Made the long trip to the spots he was talking about but something had changed. we caught a few fish but not the numbers or size that he had. This past thursday we went to Lake x. Got there just before daylight and we were the only ones at the ramp! Made the short run to our lilly pads. for about 15 minutes the yellow magic was pure magic! lots of dinks and one 3lber. Then someone threw the switch and nothing! Still before 7am, went to some other pads and nothing. Threw some crankbaits on the dam that only produced a small drum. Dillon has really been absorbing as much fishing information as he can. Reading the bassmasters and any article he can. It is about 9am and starting to get hot.He suggests that we go to the c-rig. I have never had alot of luck with this. We try a couple different points and the bridge with nothing. Then I remember a spot that someone showed me a couple of years ago. Throw out the marker and back of. First cast, get a 4lber. Wouldn't you know it, no camera in the boat. We go on to catch a few more, one being another 3lber. I hooked a decent fish and handed the rod to Dillon but the fish tail walked and threw the hook. After they quit biting, we left the spot for awhile and came back. No takers. Called it quits about 11am. Not a ton of fish, but some quality fish and we both had a great time. Backlashes and all! If this had been a tournament I would have had about 12-14lbs. Talked about tournament fishing all the way home. He has the bug for sure now! |

Very impressive for this time of year. Way to go figuring them out. If you're richer than me I think we're related. If you're poorer than me I know we're related. My bass club webpage http://texbass.8m.com/
