Friday I went out to Lavon to pre-fish for the Richardson Corporate Challenge and decided to look for new water. I spent the majority of the day graphing points, treelines, etc... I broke a good fish off on a drop shot where I graphed a bunch of fish and baitfish so I left it alone. Moved all over the lake with no bites so I went to try some of my old spots and immediately starting picking up dinks. Once I boated a probable keeper I left there to search for more places. I knew I did not have much for Sunday but hoped it would be enough.

Sunday came and our two boat, 4 man squad hit the water. I Started on the point I broke off and there were 10 times more fish and bait on the graph than friday but could not get bit with anything -- cranks, dropshot (3 different baits), CR, spinnerbaits, etc... Spent too much time there and decided to move to where I caught fish on friday and had nothing but dinks to show for it -- 5 fish under 14 inches. Talked to the other boat and they were plauged with dinks also so I moved. Dinks, dinks, dinks... Everywhere I went was dinks -- 2' - 17' of water, 10 to 13 inch fish. I must have caught a dozen dinks. Finally went back to location I usually fish and boated a keeper around 2:00 and at 2:30 I lost my only other keeper bite at the boat. The fish came up about 5' in front of the boat, a tail walk & head shake, and sent hook flying back to me.

Got to weigh in at 3:00 and turns out I was the only one on my team to catch a keeper. I think my fish went 2.68 and first place for our division was 5.98 or something like that. I was extrememly dissapointed in loosing that fish in front of the boat because he was a little bigger than the first keeper but nothing I can do about it -- it happens. I teased the other guys about the fact that if they had brought in just 1 keeper we would have gotten a medal -- I did my part and got us on the board... :-)

The guy that was in the boat with me loves to fish but has never fished a bass tournament before. I let him go across the stage and get his picture taken with the fish -- he got a big kick out of that... He did catch a bass during the tournament but it was not a keeper. He definately learned a lot and had a great time. We had a great time fishing and I just wish I could have put him on a few more fish.

Fishing was definately tuff for me on Sunday but a few teams figured it out. The Nexem team weighed in twin 6 pounders -- 6.25 & 6.27. The Texas Instruments squad kicked butt with over 21 pounds. Our weak 6th place finish did not kill our overall Corporate Challenge standing though. HP is still leading the competition in the overall standings by 30 something points over the City of Richardson. Hopefully I can participate next year and do better.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

LMAO Bigun...

I left out the part about getting off the water Friday, unhooking the boat, hooking up the flatbed, loading it with 115 bales of hay out of the field, then unloading it into the hay loft. Followed by waking up Saturday morning and getting another 285 bales from the field and into the barn (185 in my barn and 100 in the neighbor's).

This pip-squeak was tired as all get out. I'm still whipped from the weekend... My hands hurt so bad Sunday I am suprised I did not loose a rod on the cast... :-)
