Well, Charles and I worked our tails off and unfortunately we did not finish up in the money -- or even close to it for that matter.

Friday I headed out there and was on the water around 10:30am. My first spot yielded a keeper really quick so I bailed on that spot and moved to find more water. I boated another keeper in Chaney Creek and Charles called to tell me he was coming to the lake. I moved back towards High Port and fished a main lake shoreline and caught a few more fish before he arrived. When he arrived we went to look at more water and landed some dinks in one spot then the last spot we went to yielded nothing for us. We put together the game plan for Saturday and headed for dinner.

Saturday came and we started on the shoreline I caught my first keeper on Friday. In no time we were catching short largemouths, smallmouths, and spots. About a half hour into it I landed the first keeper on a shakey head. Charles responded quickly and boated 2 more keepers. It took about another hour or so and 10 more fish before we filled our limit but we had a limit. 2 of the fish were 14 1/8 & 14 1/2 and the rest were 16" or so inches. We ended up staying in that cove all day and culled all of the 14" fish. We ended up with 9.83 pounds for day 1 and that placed us in 32nd out of 103.

Thinking we would give that cove a shot on Sunday we headed straight there. First cast I caught a dink and then on my 5th cast I hooked a keeper that broke me off under the boat -- all down hill from there. We proceeded to catch fish all day but nothing over 13.5" in length. We pulled up to a tree in Little Mineral and pulled 5 fish off of it -- nothing over 13". Hit another tree -- 3 short fish. The next tree, same thing -- all short. We moved around probably too much and caught fish everywhere we went but had no keepers to show for it and ended up not weighing a fish on Sunday.

We had a great time fishing and catching fish but unfortunately we never could put together a bag of fish for day 2 and others certianly figured it out. I wish I would have put some time in on the lake before the tournament because we were scrambling on Sunday to find fish. We never went up to Chaney and I wonder if we should have but it is too late now.

Had a great time Charles and it is alway fun fishing with you. I look forward to the 2008 season on Fork with you. With a season fishing together behind us, I think we have a great shot at some checks next year.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Mike,Charles, it was great to share our first Media Championship with you guys.. Good company..

Dinner at Patsy's was nice , I think Mike ate too much. hehehe!!

It just wasn't our time, no doubt.. When you have the kind of luck we've had lately.. It's just not to be..

It sucks to be on some good fish and your trolling motor quit for the third time in competition in a month..

Time for some equipment upgrade.
Sunday was a nightmare from going thru livewell
check(when I found out I didn't have a T/M) too when Kay hooks a huge fish and I can't get to the stick-up before it breaks off.. It was so disappointing..

But, good friends and there support helped a lot
we'll gett'um next time.
I sure missed Fork, I like grass, and timber...
and the ability to run the lake with out the fear of spearing a huge wake from the Queen Mary's that roam Texoma...

Saturday- 10.44 lbs 1-dead total 9.94 lbs
Sunday - 3.03 lbs 0 dead total 12.97 lbs
WE SUX.......

Amen to that... Them big ol' boats throw one hell of a wake!

There is a positive note to the weekend... Charles and I only burned about a quarter of a tank of gas with us staying in that one cove all day Saturday. :-)

I for one am ready to head back to Texoma and kick some bucketmouth bass... On the other hand tho, I really miss fishing Fork!!!
