Last evening, I cleaned off a very overgrown point on a private lake that hasn't been fished much in the last 6 years, in order to place a duck blind for later this year. I had some old dead nightcrawlers in a can from another day, and put one on a quarter ounce jig head and threw it out, set the rod down, and tried to reel the line taunt, but it kept getting slack and I thought I felt a peck. So I picked it up just in time to get hold of a rod breaker! This thing was seemed nearly 3 ft long, as it broke the surface a flung water from head and tail. The little Zebco was losing ground and the drag was screaming, so I decided one of us need some relief. I pushed the button and let him have some slack after about 15 minutes, and he ran into a cove and sulked. Later I found he had thrown the hook and left me tied to the weeds on the bottom. I told my rancher friend, "from now on, we fish together. I might need someone to pull me to shore!

Sounds like some great excitement there on the tank. I remember after my lab died I would take a topwater lure with me to the pond to get my ducks and I started catching bass while trying to get my downed birds.... Make sure to take some topwater baits with you and when the duck hunting is slow you can hammer some big bucketmouths... :-)
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
