I know I have not been... I have not been in my boat since the Texoma event either. I hope to change that this weekend -- unless I go deer hunting. :-)

I did get talked into a trip down to East Matagorda with an old friend who has a fish camp down there. We went the weekend of opening deer season and had a great time chasing them salty fish. Caught reds, trout, and flounder.

Here is some of my catch that Saturday

I'm pretty eager to get into the woods and harvest a deer but at the same time I am dying to get my boat back on the water and take advantage of the fall fishing.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I would not call it deer hunting what I have been doing the last week. More like sitting in a tree. No deer saw in Kansas. Hopefully rut gets them rolling when I go back next week. Speckle trout and redfish are on fire here in S La and more ducks than we have had in about five years from all the reports. About how my luck has been going this year.

I shot 2 more hogs this weekend in Leakey. Shot a 10pntr in Seguin opening weekend of gun season with my bow but couldn't find it. Shot was low and clipped the brisket.

Same here.
I did wrap up angler of the year this weekend! Mark hasn't fished the last 2 events so it was almost bittersweet.

Congrats on the Texas Coastal Slam Mike!

Sorry about the piss poor hunting Wade. Hard to even imagine it was that bad up there? Glad you have a 2nd go round. I have a funny feeling the 2nd trip is going to be the one.

Wes I'm double sorry you couldn't find that buck :-(

Congrats Rumbanator! I know the crowds have to be thinned down on the lakes now.

I've been fishing some along the coast. Caught and released a 4.5 ft bull shark. Had the big rod light off while I was fighting this spec on my trout rod. Had my hands full for about 5 minutes (fishing alone). I finally just backed up the sand holding both rods. Big rod had a couple hundred yards out and still going but the spec finally stopped peeling line and I managed to slide it up high enough on the sand to focus on the big fish. Decided to break down and filet a few gafftop. It's been years since I've had gafftop catfish and man I forgot how well they ate. High pressure hose knocked the slime off and the trusty old electric filet knife made short work of the rest. They eat darn well out of clear water along Padre. I think even better than freshwater catfish.

Surf spec

I'll head over to Del Rio in a couple of weeks and start the rut archery attack. Still too early right now.

Going to have to get to the coast again soon, I need me some hubcap size flounder.

As far as the Deer is concerned I just got off the phone with Texfisher(Mark) and he has a BBD and will be stoping by work here in a little bit to show me and Bish.

Man-you guys are all having too dayuuum much fun.... hehehehe !!! Great pic's.

Picou, your just sorry dude, you know how too hurt a guy. Very nice slam.

ATTHEWALL, I agree the gafftops are messy, but UUUMMMMM good eat'n fur-sur..
I think the fall on the flats or the surf is the best time of the year. Most people are hunting, and the fish really come to life just before or 2-3 days after a front.. TOP Dawg's early and shrimp tails the rest of the day..

WOOO WEEE ..

Great job guys, impressive.

Yes. We have been deer hunting. Round one is in the books with the story to come. Round 2 at Hagerman starts on Friday. Hopefully my luck will continue.

Congrats to the guys who have been fishing.

Congrats to Rumbanator for getting his name next to mine on the AOY trophy. :-)

We love crappie fishing...I know I'll have some time to fish. Michele and I will be have turkey day at the tralier. I guess I need to get the jigging pole ready and get some crappie hooks. We'll need to meet sometime while we're there. I have your number so I try calling you. Maybe this cold spell pushed some slab off the points. I was thisnk they would be suspended around 20ish feet. Do you get Bassmaster Mag?
