I want to take a little trip down to Coleto Creek. I will be bass fishing but I would really get a kick out of catching a redfish in the same water, if possible. Does anyone have any experience on this reservoir and perhaps some advice? I also would appreciate info on places to stay overnight, other than the lakeside cabins. Be safe, Rayzor |

First off... Welcome to the ramp Rayzor! Unfortunately, I have never been to Coleto Creek so I really cannot help much. But, some of the things I have heard about some of the freshwater lakes with Redfish in them is that the fall time is the best time to catch redfish in the same waters as you would find the bass. As the water cools off the reds move up shallow to chase bait. I would think that spinnerbaits and rattle traps would be a great start and if you can find some schooling activity the standard topwaters would be effective. A quick google search for coleto creek lodging gave me this one -- http://www.coletocreekcabins.com/ and there were many more to look at also. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Thank you for the warm welcome, Picou! Going to a new lake with just a map and high hopes always presents a challenge. I look forward to quite an adventure. I appreciate the web link. I had seen that site before. If anyone can recommend a place to stay in Goliad, Victoria, or elsewhere, I would appreciate it. Be safe! Rayzor |
