Darby (owner of JDC Baits) told me last week he was going to offer free shipping on all orders for the Christmas season. I was on his site today and it looks like it's in place.

Ya'll probably know that I have been fishing with his baits since March and I absolutely love them. I was fortunate enough to get 4 checks in tournaments this year and these baits were responsible for a lot of the fish weighed in on those days.

My biggest fish this past year was a 7.1 pounder caught on a white 3.5" "Skip-N-Pop" with the tail dipped in spike it. I also caught fish on the watermelon version in the same size.

Undoubtedly my favorite soft plastic bait now is the "Bass Bone". I caught fish on that bait from March thru August. The last tournament on Fork in August I fished, I got a check and the three biggest in my limit came on the watermelon/chart bass bone. I got some feedback about the watermelon/chart bones casting off the hook and being too soft. I noticed it also that after pulling thru the grass or catching a fish or two the bait would cast off. This was not an issue with the black/blue or watermelon/black flake. I talked with Darby about this and he shot me some baits to try out to address the softness issue. Based on this, he was able to determine what was causing the softness issue in these baits and corrected it.

I have caught fish on several of his lures and have a ton of confidence in them. I've fished his lizard, 5" craw, the "Rock Craw", the "Gibroni", and the "Drop-Shot" baits as well with good success and soon will be trying the "Sweet Water Chubs" he just released.

Now is a great time to pick up a few bags if you have been interested in trying them and see for yourself what I have been bragging about. I have a rod exclusively rigged for the "Bass Bone" -- that is how much I like that bait.

Let me know if you have any questions or feel free to contact Darby and talk with him.

I really wish you would shut up about the "BONE":-).

I've caught several fish with his baits too. The white bass bone should be killer bed fishing.

Wes didn't catch anything on a bassbone. That story was just a publicity stunt for JDC baits.

LOL.... Anytime Wes catches a fish it's a stunt... :-)

I think he had some good success on the Bass Bone down on Lake Austin this spring/early summer. I plan on going down there and fishing with him this spring so he can show me how it's done.

I have a bag of bones I bought at the Toyota Bass Classic. Also just picked up some 2/0 finesse hooks with the weed guards to try next time out. Tommy and I could possibly be out at Fork sometime Saturday.

I'll usually twitch the bone 2 or 3 times then pause for 2 - 5 seconds depending on water depth. They fall at a rate of about 1 foot per second.

Good luck Tom and let us know how the fishing at Fork is. Someone told me that were catching tripple digit numbers last weekend out there in the nasty weather.

I am sure I won't be in a place where you can catch 100 bass. Double digits is a good day for me. I talked to one of the other boys and he wants to catfish at T-Wok. We'll see what the weekend brings.

Who woke Wes up???

Wes, I have been thinking Monticello lately. Holler at me if you get up this way in December/January. You, Tommy and I need to do a cello reunion. Tommy had recently mentioned the trip we did about 8-9 years ago with Patrick and Perry.
I did read a thread on TFF that said they killed all the grass out there. I am sure we could still find them.....

Monticello...Those were great trips. I can't believe they killed the grass, that sucks. I might be able to make a trip up in the late part of Jan. Let me see what I can work out. BTW Tom, I have been in Austin for 8 years it was a little longer ago then that :-) I will try and bring those pics up of the fishing trips I found.

Sounds good Wes. If the weather is decent we can hit Fork also. If the weather sucks bad, then we can spend all the time on Monitcello.
