Well for once in my life I didn't snap a darn pic. But I got bored and this past Saturday was warm enough for the river so I dropped in around noon. Took me roughly an hour to finally score my first largemouth. About 2lbs, 7ft of water edging between pads just off the bank working Texas rigged worm. Moved down into a fast water section that tails into a slow section of river and picked up 4 more largemouth 1-2.5lbs and one good sized Guadalupe that hit about 14 inches. Bite went off and I worked back upstream to my deeper section I usually fish summer nights and switched to a dual Colorado blade spinnerbait (charty) and picked up two more largemouth flipping the bank and working a mid depth retrieve.

The sun went down and I paddled back upstream to the truck and stopped one more time along a narrow section of the river with the spinner bait. Figured I would simply give it a shot slow bouncing the bottom in a section of river I've scored fish in. Made the cast, settled and bounced, missed a hit. So I made the same cast and did the same thing...bang..fish on...WTF...15 inch channel cat LOL! I've caught more channel cats on lures in this river in the past few months than I've hooked on artys in my entire life. Now the list of channel cat lurs are plastic worm, beetle spin, spinners and spinnerbaits. I guess a slow worked plug is next? :-)

7 largemouth, 1 Guadalupe and 1 Channel Cat. I went fishing hoping for smallmouth and simply couldn't buy a single bite there. Even the Guadalupe bite was off. Same waters as smallies so I suppose there was a correlation with both species. I typically load up on Guadalupes...not this trip.

Good half day of fishing for the river. Haven't fished the Lupe this time of the year in my yak so it's new territory. I have winter gear too for the water so I will keep checking to really see what happens. Should be interesting.

He probably did not have room for a camera opting to bring a wi-fi laptop so he could keep up with all his IM'ing women! :-)

Sounds like a great trip Rob. Keep'em coming. Crappie are biting in them rivers? Seems like it would be a good time of year for them.

Way to stay on top of em Rob,,,

A friend of mine asked me to set up my hog trap at his pond cause they've been rooting up around the bank,, I took a rod with me and decided to see if he had any bass in it.. Well he does !! I tell ya it's fun going in and setting the trap then chunking for a few minutes,, I get 4 or 5 every time in about 30 minutes,,, I know it isn't very sporting, but it's been so long since I caught a bass it's fun as hell... BTW I put everything back,,
