I was reading this article in the linked forum and it really makes me sick to see this happening. Our government is OUT OF CONTROLL!

Anyone have any ideas regarding how to fight these issues?

Considering that the only thing I can find on line about this is that the meetings are scheduled, I would suggest showing up and voicing your opinion. What I have seen over history is that these public meetings really do give the public a chance and plans have been changed based on public feedback at these meetings or online response forms.

Go to the meeting and take as many people with you as you can. But if at all possible, find out what you can about the proposed changes so that you can be ready for rebuttal when you get in there.

Thanks Mike - I will be going and if anyone would like to join me I will gladly give them a ride (from my part of town of course).

Mike - I have to ask you since you went out there with me ONCE - Did you see any shortage of Snapper?

The thing I need to figure out is how to prove the NMFS data wrong - after I figure out what their data is. Ohhhh what a challenge that lays before me. This really ticks me off - they are going to impact the entire coastal fishing industry as they are going.

Ya'll wait - they will stop your bass fishing soon too.... It's just a matter of time and if they succeed on the coast - they will use their successes to leverage the freshwater industry...

First thing you have to do is calm down and think rationally. Instead of believing that the state is out to get you and ruin your fishing, give them credit for having your best intrests in mind. Go into it on the offense and you will have a much better case. Go into it defensive and most of what you say will fall on deaf ears.

You are mistaken if you believe that the TPWD does not understand the power of the fishing community. The most important thing is to fully understand the proposed changes -- which I have yet to see. The next thing is to get as many as you can to attend the meetings against the changes if you really are against the changes.
