Decided that the tempature was too nice not to fish on Sunday so I talked my cousing into going with me to Lake X. He is convinced that the wind constantly blows 35+mph around the lake because everytime he goes with me it is howling. The water was pretty stained and cold but still managed a decent day for January. Picked up a kamikaze keeper fish early on a XR50 and then had trouble finding a bite until the sun warmed up the water some. They started biting well around 1:00-2:30. We fished a spot where the wind was funneling bait through a narrow cut. Managed 6 keepers and one nice kicker of 5lbs 2ozs. Here is a pic of my big fish, sorry about the quality I only had my cell phone.

Notice the complete absence of trailers in the parking lot. We were the only morons that spent more than 30 minutes on the lake.

The wind was soooo bad it almost blew us both out of the boat when we were "bilging" and at another point it gusted so hard it seemed like my boat was picked up and almost thrown on top of the bank. Tough conditions but we were catching fish in January.:-)

R,
If you look to the left side of your pic you'll see my truck and trailer...I didn't see you out there I guess you were some where tucked away...We fished from 1:30 - 5:00 and eneded up with 3 keepers and a few dinks. No bib fish. The wind sucked!

I thought you went to the lake on Saturday Ozzie... :-)

I see that Rumbanator is prepping to defend his AOY title.

Congrats to both of you for getting out on the lake and catching some fish. Great report Rumb and as far as the pic, that's more of a pic than most give us so I am thrilled to see a fish at all... :-) Thanks for sharing your day and a picture with us.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I thought I was the only crazy one on the lake. Spent the morning trying new baits. Went back to the house for lunch. It sure was a long ride. Came back after lunch for some real fun. Pulled the boat up in the reeds and fished from the back deck. Then I let the wind bring them to me. There was no problem finding a spot to fish with 30mph wind. I only saw one other moron on the lake.

Ya'll have too big of an axe to grind with these fish... :-) It will definately make ya'll better anglers for those tournaments when the wind kicks up. Maybe I should pick some of the worst days to fish and get after it because it sure seems like on tournament day the weather always turns for the worst...

Hmm... maybe ya'll aren't as foolish as I originally though...

Can't beleive I didn't see you guys, I was on the main lake most of the day. Saw one guy in an old 70's style boat and another in a brown skeeter. I was the guy in the white and blue Javelin, I like fishing X when its windy but Sunday was just nuts.
