A good friend of mine was telling me that there were a ton of small ponds in and around DFW airport that are LOADED with bass. He said he hasn't been out there in almost 5 years or so. Things may be different now with security and all. Anyone know if there is any truth to this?

If so, how the hell to you get to'em?

There is a nice big pond/small lake on the west side of the main throughfare as you go out the south end of the airport. I always wondered if it was off limits or not. I never have seen anyone out there. It looks real good from the road.

I have heard of this possible urban myth. I am pretty sure I wouldn't want to get caught illegally fishing on DFW property, but I understand the ponds (tanks as us redneck east Texans refer to them) to be on the West side around Airfield Drive and Glade Rd.

I agree with Chuck. I wouldn't want to get caught there. I have drove by the one on the South entrance for years and wondered about the fish content.

Tom, that is the one I was referring to. That one sure looks fertile. Lots of veg around the perimeter too. I never had the nerve to try it. Try calling DFW and asking them. Seems like I remember seeing a sign that prohibited fishing there, anyone else remember anything like that?

Gary, I hear ya, looks really good. Many years ago, I used to see a gator swimming up and down the ditch that leads into it.
I would bet if anyone would be seen there, they would attract a lot of attention from law enforcement there.
