Spent the past weekend on Fork with Wes, Ozzie, and Smanner. Gary also came out and fished with us on Saturday.

Although we did not get the numbers I was expecting nor did we ever really get into the size fish I had hoped for, we had a great time hanging out and talkin smack.

Friday Wes and I spent the day on the lake with Lake Fork fishing guide Rick Carter. We had fished with him last year and had a really good time. The opportunity came up to do it again and as expected... We had a great time in the boat with Rick. Last year when we fished with Rick I introduced him to the Bass Bone by JDC Baits and it has become one of those baits he relies on regularly. He told me to bring extras because they had been whackin the fish on the black/blue Bones. We boated around 20 fish on Friday on a couple of different baits -- Bone, Chatter Bait, Traps, etc... The biggest fish came at the end of the day when Rick wacky rigged this nice fish. We did not put her on a scale and just snapped a picture.

That was the only fish picture we took all day and that was a fitting end to the exciting day on Lake Fork. We learned some new stuff and spent some time with a very entertaining guide who can catch fish on that lake. I highly reccomend Rick to anyone wanting to learn the lake and catch some fish.

Saturday was not the stellar day I had expected it to be but we still managed 8 or 9 fish on traps & split shot JDC Bait's Gibroni. We fished the Bass Bone some but apparently not enough because late in the afternoon Rick called me and asked if I had anymore Bass Bones I could sell him. I had sold him 7 bags on Friday and he used quite a few on Saturday. He told me that they caught 37 bass total on Saturday with his clients from Colorado and 32 of those fish came on the Black/Blue Bass Bone. We met up later that night and he got 11 more bags from me. :-)

On Sunday we awoke to strong winds and since I needed to put some gas in the boat, Wes and I decided to go look at the east arm of the lake. We took our time and finally got on the water sometime after 8:00am and just took it easy. Wes landed the only fish on a wind blown point with a lucky craft lipless bait so we snapped a picture and fished for another hour or so. We decided that breakfast sounded like a better plan and headed to Oak Ridge for a Lake Fork 4x4... :-)

Here is Wes' Sunday morning fish:

Although we may not have slayed the fish as I was hoping, it was still a great weekend at the lake with good people. There were some crappie caught off the dock during the night and the food was excellent. It was great to be out there and I cannot wait to do it again.
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Sunday, The fish bite good for me and my friend Dennis...We landed around 13 before noon all on Tiki stiks...The wind really made it hard to fish so we tried off to tree which is unheard of for me but I had to.

PS: Wes kept catching my Crappie :-(
