I've been fishing on the coast for years, but just recently purchased a bay boat. The deal was that my folks would buy a camper and my wife and I would buy the boat. Well, last August, I dropped the hammer on a 22' Kenner with 200 HP Mercury and last Fall they came through with their end of the deal and bought a 37' Mallard. We moved the trailer down to Rockport, TX and we are now in business. Fast forward to last weekend. My wife and I, my folks and my brother and his new girlfriend made a trip down to Rockport, TX to get in some fishing and also enjoy Oysterfest. Saturday AM found us scootting across the water in 40-degree temps . . . not quite what the girls had been promised, but they quickly forgot about that when the reds turned on. We put in at Con Brown Harbor and fished around Hog Island, then motored toward Aransas Bay to fish some old docks for sheephead.  Getting bait . . . mullet and shrimp was on tap for the day.  Getting read to wet a line.  My dad was the first to hook up for the day.  Followed by my brother . . .  Then I got in on the action   Nice 22" red for the grill.  Sheephead action was good . . .  My brother's girlfriend had never been saltwater fishing before. This is her first fish, and she was super stoked. We made our way back to the dock and headed back to the camper to shower up and head to Fulton for the Oysterfest.   All in all it was a great weened (minus popping the bearings out of my troll motor). If any of you all find yourself down in that part of the world . . . look me up. | ||||||||||||

I'm smiling from ear to ear for the Simeks! Congratulations on an awesome time Chris. Yes banging the trolling motor had to be a little humbling. Hopefully you could redeem yourself somewhat at the fish cleaning station? | ||||||||||||

Great times by the Simek's. You look like you are suppose to be working at that fish cleaning building. Were there enough boats in the area you were fishing? You need to get Rob down there to teach you how to pull your boat up to a dock now.  Quit being a mad, little bald man! | ||||||||||||

Big Easy, I know Chris thought about this for roughly 4 hours when he cruised north. He's a fast learn, I know, the bloodlines are very similar. He's gonna come out of this deal on top! | ||||||||||||

You did fine Chris on your first Saltwater adventure. Rob would be no help. Him and Drake jumped out of my boat and let me slam into the creasote dock in a hard falling tide and 30 mph wind because they were getting wet from the rain storm that blew in. That whole adventure convinced me Rob peeled lots of potato's when he was a Saltie! Quit being a mad, little bald man! | ||||||||||||

Excellent coverage there Simek... Other than the TM damage, it looks like you're well on your way to earning the Bigun award for putting people on fish. Wait a minute... The trollin motor thing fits right in line with some of my adventures with Bigun... Great pictures buddy and thanks for putt 'em up here.  Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Bill, those reds were caught in the cuts, about 20 yards from the bank in 4-6 feet of water. Live mullet is what we used. | ||||||||||||
