I'm heading to my lease this weekend for a little turkey hunting and fishing. I'm hauling my 2 man boat with me and plan on hitting some of the area lakes in the afternoons. I hope to have some pictures of both species when I return. Story to come.........

Oak Creek is about 30 miles south of Sweetwater. It is a very clear lake with lots of timber. We were limited fishing out of the 2 man boat but managed to put together a pattern. We ended up catching around 10 bass with Justin's weighing 7.1 lbs. Texas parks and wildlife rated the bass fishing as fair so we were supprised with the quality of fish. A local store owner reported a 9lber being caught last week. We will be checking this lake out some more in the future.

As for the turkey hunting. I ended up with 3 birds. I shot 2 jakes the first day and a gobbler the second day. I couldn't get a bird to gobble but the last bird did come in a put on a show for the decoys. Our group of 4 ended up with 6 birds in 2 days of hunting. Here's a couple of pics I got from the hunt.

Also had a decent buck show up on the trailcam.

I believe the beard was 8" and the spurs were 1". I saved everything for a fan mount. Just have to get around to doing it. I have to say I cheated on two of the birds and used a shotgun. The gobbler circled around the backside of the blind and I was afraid he had me figured out so I dropped a window real quick and grabbed the gun. I will say it's a lot easier with the smoke pole.
