After removing the old out dated stuff, and installing the new stuff it took me about 3-hours. Off we go for a test run...

The unit is very easy to operate and the standard defaults seem to work very well.

I boosted the chart speed and sensitivity and that was about it..The SI part is awesome, I need to wear my reading glasses to make out all the images.

The screen is crisp and very clear even in bright sun light..The down shooter(standard type sonar) is very clear and detailed much to my surprise.

I would be totally blind relying on the SI feature to find structure without a lot of seat time..  I have a lot of reading and practice ahead of me with this unit.

It is user friendly and I'm sure I will gain confidence in time the more I use it..

In grading the Hummingbird SI unit, it gets two thumbs up..

I never thought I'd leave Lowrance... My X-15 is only 4-yrs old and no one will work on it..

The back light is out, it's useless at night for navigation.. I wanted too keep it, but Lowrance makes it too where you have to buy new ever so often... I paid $275.00 a year for the X-15 for 4-years the unit cost over $1000.00 new..

I am not pleased about that...

I think you need to take me over your favorite spots and show me how good that new SI works... Never mind the hand held GPS I will be carrying with me... :-)

Glad you like it Billy. For that coin I would prefer it hook and land my fish for me... lol...
Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

I just got the 797 a couple weeks ago and am loving it. It's going to be a great tool.
I do wish I could have afforded the 997 with the larger screen. But the 797 will have to get the job done for now.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
