It was undoubtedly a battle but the Fannin Dixie team swept the bracket and clinched the regional championship earning a birth to the Girls 9-10 yr old State Championship Tournament. Game 4 found us pitted against the team from Denison and although it was a hard fought battle, they defeated Denison in 4.5 innings. How it all shook out I have very little recollection of, but despite some questionable calls by the umpires we did it.  With only an hour and ten minutes of rest, the Fannin Dixie girls hit the field for the championship game against Howe once again and came out with some strong defense only giving up 1 run in the top of the 1st. In the bottom of the first the Fannin team came out victorious of that inning by scoring two of their own points leaving the 1st inning with a score of 2 - 1. The top of the 2nd found the Howe team taking the field quickly as they sent three girls to the plate and the Fannin girls retired them quickly. Struggling in the bottom of the second the Fannin team only increased their lead with one run and stranded some runners on base. Inning by inning the Fannin Dixie girls battled and came out on top of each inning slowly extenguishing any hope for the Howe team. At the top of the 5th inning the Fannin team had a 4 point lead over Howe with a score of 8 - 4. Fannin's closing pitcher struck out her first batter then struggled and walked the next two. Coach made a move and put the starting pitcher back in and she finished out the game by striking out the next two to the plate and secured the victory for the Fannin Dixie girls.  It was a hard fought battle by the girls and they earned their trophies with every inning. This team came together from all of the different towns and fought as a team to win the championship. They definately deserve the trip to State and I cannot wait to be there with them. It's been a long day and I am ready to crash. The game ended around 10:00 PM and then we went to eat as a team after that so we got home really late. I am beat and everyone else is already in bed. Thanks... The girls were on cloud 9 and now the hard work kicks back up with preparation for the State Tournament. We will be traveling to Dayton, Texas for the next one and it should be a great experience for them. Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Man that stuff makes great memories.....My son Nick has played on three different baseball teams that won National Championships USSSA in Lenexa, Kansas, AAU in Orlando, Florida and AAYBA in Flower Mound, Texas.... I coached all three teams and wouldn't trade anything for those memories and watching the boys learn the game. Sounds like your boat is going to get a rest Mike.....I know mine did during baseball season. Give them heck Corey & your Fannin Dixie team mates!
