Fannin Dixie showed up at the fields around 8:00am this morning fired up. The chanting and cheering started early with this group of girls and their determination was unmistakable. By the bottom of the first inning Fannin had taken the lead 3 - 0. The second inning echoed the determination as they shut down Jacksonville and increased their lead by 1 point in the bottom of the 2nd. Fannin's second pitcher continued the shutout and pitched 2 great inning while the Fannin offense padded the lead with 3 more runs. Top of the 5th came and the Fannin closer held her ground after walking the first two batters faced. She battled back by striking out the third batter she faced. The next batter got on with a wild throw to first but the runners were not able to advance any further. With runners all the way around and only one out, the pitch was good and the hit was solid. Fannin's shortstop cleany fielded the ball, quickly tagged the runner and rocketted the ball to home plate where our catcher tagged the runner and ended the game -- Fannin 6 - Jacksonville 0. The Fannin Dixie team holds on to their positioin and advances to the next round! At this point in the bracket we can finish no lower than 3rd place. Our next game is scheduled for 6:00pm tonight but there is a catch. Of the two teams playing right now, one of them has already lost a game -- Crosby. The other team, Hopkins County, is undefeated (the team that beat us). If Crosby wins then all 3 teams have 1 loss and there will be a drawing for who gets a BYE for the next game. If Crosby loses this game then we play Hopkins at. Brushback -- Get off my plate!  Drive that ball!  Strike 3 -- Batter's OUT!  The sweet taste of VICTORY!   Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish

Well, the ride is over for the girls. They played a hard game against Crosby Texas last night and lost via a run rule in the bottom of 3rd. The Crosby team hit the ball great and ran the bases agressively as well as a pretty solid defense. We ended the tournament tied for 2nd place with Hopkins County. Coach told us after the game that the Crosby team has been playing together for many years and they had a pretty flawless game. Best of luck to Crosby in the National tournamen. I'm very proud of our girls for taking it this far. They played some fabulious ball at these last two tournaments. I have more pictures but they will have to wait. We are packing up to get on the road this morning. Thanks for all of your support folks! Thank you Lord for my family and the waters I get to fish
