Just found this board. The TFFers didn't like my sense of humor so I'm gonna make u's guys, I mean all Y'all laugh here now. So lets get the Yankee fun started with a question? Why do the elites insist on riskin their lives on Lake Erie with a bass boat instead of a Deep V like everyone else in the world knows you need to fish the big ponds? Those boys got their rigs tore up on day one and several had to be rescued boo hoo boy them Yankee waters are rough.

Welcome to the ramp Yank. Snowden used the walleye rig to finish high on Erie, but even the deep v couldn't put him the winner circle.

Even the Elite guys can't afford to run two boats and they wont be back on Erie next year. We will have to wait and see what kind of water Big Bay de Loc has.

Fishing Lake Erie is on my to do list, but I can't spend a week's vacation with the hopes of one good day to fish.

Anyway, welcome aboard.

Dru, regional expressions are kind of funny no one along the Great Lakes calls em walleye rigs there just fishin boats. All I'm trying to say is the elites boat sponsors should provide a safe boat to handle the water conditions and BASS should require it for the sake of safety. The local fishermen just shake their heads at these guys every year. For your trip all I can tell you is what gramps use to say when ma would yell at him for being out in rough water "if I wait for good water i'll do more waitin than fishin."

Speaking of Yankees. The Rangers look to make it 3 straight tonight over the Yankees with another rookie pitcher.
I have fished Erie before for Walleye. Been out there in 6-10's in a 18 foot V. That wasn't much fun either.
Life jackets are required, no sweat for the big guns.
Welcome to the Ramp Yank.
Thanking the Lord, all day long

There goes the neighborhood! Maybe this Tejas heat will send them back up I-35 where they belong.

Just pokin at you Nyyankee, welcome aboard. Maybe them deep V's with 115's don't go fast enough for the Elites or they just know they are better then the average Yankee, even Ike runs a bass boat, not a tub.

I've been on Erie in a Deep-V and we didn't venture outside the harbor outside of Buffalo because it was terrible. I chummed all over that lake. We fished up the niagra and caught some smaller ones but my best was just under five because we(I)couldn't make it to his best spots on the main lake.
Anytime you go out on that lake when the conditions are that rough you are risking your life regardless if you are in a DeepV or a 21' skeeter.

Sorry, Tom, I think I jinxed the Rangers by attending the game. It was Stephanie's first baseball game, she had a blast. Although, I think she enjoyed dancing to the music more than watching the game.

I went to the game last night too. I had never seen Rivera pitch live, that guy is smooth as silk. I think the umps called some close pitches balls just to make it a little more fair.
Maybe all I know about him is that he was a fine fisherman.

Bass Hunter most GL fishermen run 20 foot Lund Pro Mag Vs with at least a 190. I've been runnin Lake Ontario everyday after school and on weekends since i was 10 from my grand parents lake house. The rule was if grandma couldn't see my head I had to come in. None of the locals run bass boats cause it prevents you from gettin out there at times.

Last year Tracker gave Horton a deep V boat to use for this event and one other guy ran a deep V also. I don't recall what the outcome was of their experience but I don't remember hearing about them running the same boats again this year.

Welcome to The Ramp yankee... Glad to have you here.

Mike,
It was Horton and Snowden. Snowden ran one again this year.

Yank, Steve Clapper, the Erie Legend runs a 22 foot Ranger. He won the FLW event on Erie last year inspite of having to fish out of a smaller Ranger on the final two days. You can run the big water in a bass boat with enough experience. Unfortunately, the Elite guys don't get a chance or don't spend the time on big water with just one out of 11 tournaments every other year on Erie.

It can be done but when several guys have to be rescued and several others have there rigs torn up to the point of not being safe why risk some one getting into serious trouble. Kennedy zeroed the first day cause he speared a couple waves and none of the three bilges worked. Erie and Ontario eat boats I've seen what happens in a matter of minutes you go can go from being on glass to seeing nothing but a wall of water between you and the shore and every 7th or 8th wave busts into your boat when your tryin and hopin to make it in. Quote from partner "Oh sheet Ricky Here Comes Another One."

Upstate a little town called Batavia between Buffalo and Rochester. We call it Blah Tavia or Patata cause its boring except for the fihsing and there are a lot of potatoe farms on the muck lands. Local minor league baseball team is called the muck dogs cause all the farmers have mean dogs that'll tear ya apart if you pull up the drive and get out of your truck.

Obviously you are as blind as the home plate umpire was last night. The little strike zone gizmo on TV indicated the umpire was calling strikes on pitches well outside off the plate.

That siad you are probably right, it would not be fair for the Yankmee's to get swept by a bunch of rookies and hasbeens.

Was that when Rivera was pitchin I sat along first bass and it looked like he just threw darts the catch didn't have to move his glove. I don't care who you root for if your a baseball fan watchin that guy throw in person is a thing of beauty, 27 saves this year and best closer in history. The guys at the plate look like their frozen.

Rivers is 3rd alltime in saves and it does not look like he is slowing down much. He gets quite a bit of respect from the umpires, no doubt.

Rivera is a stud but he still puts his pants on one leg at a time....

I root for everyone except the Yankmee's. They have been given a unfair advantage over the rest of the league for years.

Come on man nobody gave the greatest team in the history of sports anything they take it. Haters can Hate but after your dad takes you to Yankee stadium when your 6 years old to see Mickey and Roger Maris its pretty much over for the rest of your life wouldn't ya say. I get goose bumps to this day just walkin in Yankee Stadium. The Babe, Joltin Joe, Mickey, Roger, Whitey, Yogi, Billy, R.E.G.G.I.E. The greatest team in the history of the game and the haters can't argue. Like the BOSS said The Yankees business is winnin the world series and business has been good.

Been to Yankmee stadium to see the A's get pouned 10-1 on July 21, 1976 (I was 12).

I believe the big names where Rivers, Chambliss, Guidry, Hunter, Figueroa, Munson, Alomar, Nettles, Gamble, Piniella, Randolph and Martin was the skipper.

I'll never forget it but it does not withstand the fact they have had a unfair advantage for years.

The only thing more unfiar is that #14 for the Reds will never be in the Hall of Fame!

OK Chuck lets be nice. Moved to College Station when I first got transferred down here its a great town - went to a couple aggie games and it freaked me out a little the whole stadium moved in unison for the whole dang game got dizzy with that swayin back and forth move they do. Had a great time. So you got your aggies and I respect that and you should appreciate how people up north feel for hockey it kinda gets in your blood when your three or four and ya get your first hockey skates for christmas and go out on the pond. My son is the captain at Kent State Univeristy and I asked him once what it felt like after scoring the game winning goal in a national championship playoff game with 30 seconds left on the clock and he said "for that split second in time dad the whole world was just perfect".

I'll try. I have said for a very long time that a football game in Kyle Field is as good as any place in the nation and better than most. I just don't get hockey. I don't know what it is like to be a Dad but you must be very proud.

Now that is just cool. I would have liked to played hockey.

Yank, lay off chuck and those aggies before one of them breaks out that tired old saying, "if you didn't go there, you just don't get it." :-)

Check out our story on Kennedy at Lake Erie. It puts things in perspective.

Sports are a passion and people get passionate about their teams no doubt. All of us here are passionate about fishing, the other things are just rippin for fun. I personally have no pro or college favorites anymore. I barely have enough time to catch my favorite TV programs, much less watch an entire sporting event... :-)

Yank, I can imagine that your son will have that great memory forever and it will always be one of those moments to look back on and cherish. Of course, as a parent it also makes us very proud to see our kids have accomplishments like that as well.

BTW: What was the original topic??? :-)
