Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine & Sam Rayburn & Lake Fairfield
Hello Everybody,

MARK 11: Verse 25: And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have ought against any: that your FATHER also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

SAM RAYBURN: Wow we have been getting flooded. Jasper had almost 4 inches just 2 days ago.Lake level is at 161.11. I was on the Lake yesterday and watched the Lake rising as I was fishing. Water is off color in the creeks and coves. The big run off from that 4 inch rain can be easily noticed. Patterns have changed for me in this flooded circumstances.

We used a 1/2 oz Nichols rattle shad in the Lake Fork red shattered glass pattern. We caught 16 Bass to
4 lbs. 10 were keepers and 6 short fish. Bass were holding in the flooded grass and hydrilla. Water temps was 65 degrees.

Now Jacksonhill Marina is carrying Nichols baits. The Rattle shad mentioned is in stock there and it is a deadly weapon on Bass at Rayburn durring the early through spring time when Bass are hitting the traps. Go by and see Terry the owner and tell him Don sent ya. Or call David Nichols at 903-589-8100. I am still proving alot of His baits and will let ya'll know which ones the Rayburn Bass like. His Jigs and spinnerbaits are outstanding.

Lets book a trip. You can call me at 903-478-2633 or e-mail me at donmat@windstream.net. Good fishing and may God bless in Jesus. Don Mattern Sr.

Lake Palestine: Well the same is true with Palestine the floods keep comming. About 2 inches fell again a couple of days agao and the Neches was running again. If you get off the Neches you can find some good water though. Kickapoo is not totally stable yet but maybe it will be by this week end.

Mid Lake to Dam areas are kicking pretty good. Bass up to 6 lbs. were caught and alot of shad are up the creeks with Bass feeding on them. There were so many patterns but to narrow them down some Bigger Bass were hitting Jigs and worms. Nichols Jigs in 3/8 ounce black and blue and red shad and junebug worms rigged texas and wacky. Senko type baits rigged weigtles around grass and wood in watermelons worked also.

Lake level is sitting right now at 346.95 about 2 feet above normal full pool. Water temps have been running about 59-64 degrees. Good fishing and may God Bless.

If you would like to book a trip just give me a call at 903-478-2633 or e-mail me at donmat@windstream.net and we will book you in for a great day in God' creation.
