David Vance’s Lake Fork Fishing Report 04/26/05 Hello from Lake Fork, Texas! The spring spawn this year has been the best I have seen in 7 years! I have been amazed at how many bass I have seen on the beds. No matter where you are fishing there are bass on the beds or cruising the bank. The fishing this year has been great! As fishing goes we have had some tough days, but those days were weather related and not because the bass were not there to be caught. Right now the bass are on the tale end of the spawn. In the last few days I have seen big wads of Frey with males guarding them. This can only mean that the bass coming off the spawn will be gearing up to go on a feeding frenzy. This week we have been getting a good top water bite, on pop-r’s and zara spooks. This top water action will only get better. May is the best time to catch big bass on top water on Lake Fork. Right now most of the fish we are catching are in 3- 5 feet of water on wacky worms and flukes. Watermelon seed has been the best color for me. In the next few weeks Carolina rigging main lake points and humps will be a solid pattern. During May and June on Lake Fork the weather is great and the fishing is very consistent for good numbers of quality bass. Bottom line, if you like top water action, May is the best time to be on Lake Fork. Good Fishing! David Vance Dates are booking fast.
