Lake Lavon
Water Temperature: 78 - 82
Water Clarity: 1’

This guide trip was supposed to have been on Saturday. With that being said and me not trusting what I was seeing on the T.V. and internet I had my customers go ahead and meet me at Lavon at 6:30am. At 7am. we decided that we’d try fishing later in the next week. After getting up on Sunday morning and with little wind I called my customers and asked if they thought we could do the trip today (Sunday). They called me back and we met at 9:45am and was on the water by 10am.

Now, the fish have been biting pretty well on Lavon for the last several weeks but yesterday was absolutely great. We only had one fish under 14” and our best five would have gone 17 to 18 pounds with a nice 5 pounder being our first fish within the first 10 minutes of the trip. The picture of that fish is the last one on the “Fat Girls” page, I forgot my digital camera and had to have the picture e-mailed to me. Anyway, with the wind being higher that what I wanted the only two baits we threw were Rat-L-Traps and Bandit 200’s. Chrome/black and firetiger were the only colors we tried, I didn’t figure they’d hit anything better, but I don’t know since I didn’t try. I mean we caught fish all day long, why try something else when you’re catching fish? The break-lines are the key and it doesn’t appear to matte where you fish on the lake. Lavon continues to be about 6’ feet low and unless we get some rain I hope it continues to drop.

If I can be of more help or assistance regarding a trip or “Bassin’ Class” please contact me at 972-636-7022 / 800-965-0350 or by e-mail at FISHWJEFF@msn.com. It’s that time of year to start looking at your calendar for guide trips for Fall and the upcoming Winter, as I’m already booking dates for Fall. The earlier you book your date the easier it will be to get the date(s) you want. Here is what I have left available for September & October; September: 28. October: 2, 5, 10, 12, 17, 21, 23, 24, 26, 30 & 31. So, should you want to become one of my many valued customers and a great group of guys give me a call. One thing you might want to consider on booking your trip I guide on both Lake Fork, Lake Lavon & Lake Ray Hubbard, the fall bite is to die for and is a great time to learn a lot of new techniques and become a better fisherman as there are many ways of catching fish on our lakes this time of year. UNTIL NEXT TIME…GOOD LUCK & TIGHT-LINES!!!
