Lake Fork

Water Temp: 71 - 73
Water Clarity: Clear to stained

Fishing on Fork continues to be very consistent. Make sure to visit the “Fat Girl’s” page at www.fishinwithjeff.com as we’ve added some nice fish to the list of pictures. The newer pictures are at the bottom of the “Fat Girls” page. Also, I have my available dates listed at the bottom of this report. I have already started booking for the McDonald’s Tournament in September, last year I had one of my customers who pre-fished with me win second place with an 11 pounder. I have booked a couple of night trips, summer time is a very good time to come learn the deep water techniques and the jig fishing comes on pretty strong in June too.

I just can’t figure out the topwater bite, one day it’s good and the next it’s aweful. But, fishing over the exact same areas with other baits has been the way to go it there has been no surface action. Light-weight Carolina-rigs, Wacky-rigs & weightless baits have been the plastic rigs that have been productive for us this week. As well as the 100 series Bandit splatterbacks. These techniques should hold through the rest of the month. We still haven’t ventured out past about 10 feet all spring and probably won’t for another couple of weeks. There just hasn’t been any need to.

Colors have been very consistent being watermelon red & green pumpkin, there are a few others but those will keep you plenty busy. Like I stated above, “the more cover, the better!” Fishing has been very consistent all over the lake. The only area that we’re not fishing are the backs of large coves, but everywhere else is holding fish.

The 2006 “Fat Girls” page is already taking on a great look and the forecast for the remaining months of this year look great too. To have your picture posted there it must be a minimum of 4 pounds, unless the angler is a child or woman.

It’s that time of year to start looking at your calendar for guide trips for spring and summer. The earlier you book your date the easier it will be to get the date(s) you want. I have dates available if you’re looking for a FULL-TIME guide. Those dates are: June – 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28 & 29. July – 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 – 31. So, should you want to become one of my many valued customers and a great group of fishermen give me a call, I’d be honored to be your guide. UNTIL NEXT TIME…GOOD LUCK & TIGHT-LINES!!!
