Lake Lavon
Water Temperature: 78 - 80
Water Clarity: Clear to slightly stained

Fishing on Lavon has been pretty good! I did two trips on Lavon this week with one being a bass trip and the other a crappie trip. The only true problem with the fishing has been all this high wind we’re getting.

The bass bite has been very shallow and it should remain that way for some time to come. White buzz-baits, chatterbaits and light-weight Carolina-rigs were the ticket. Main lake banks, points and secondary points have been the places to fish too. The plastics colors that we threw were Lake Fork Tackle baby ring frys in watermelon/chartreuse and pumpkin/chartreuse. Our best five would have weighed between 14 and 16 pounds and we only caught 2 or 3 (I can’t remember) under 14 inches. I figure in the next week or so the crankbait bite should kick-in really well. Lavon continues to be about 8’ feet low and unless we get some rain I hope it continues to drop.

Crappie fishing is fair in water 5 to 12 feet deep around brush. Best colors have been shad and cinnamon/blue.
