Lake Fork

Water Temp: 78 - 80
Water Clarity: Clear

Fishing on Lake Fork has been good to tough this past week. The early morning bite has been good one day and non-existent the next. The topwater colors that have been working are Tennessee Shad and shad patterned, fished over hydrilla and coon-tail moss. After the topwater bite were throwing wacky-rigs and light-weight Carolina-rigs on the edges of the grass. On the windy banks white swim blades & chatterbaits are catching a few fish, as well as a Bandit 200 series in a variety of chartreuse colors. Main lake banks, points and secondary points have been where we’re catching our fish.

The deep bite has been on and off! When it has been on were throwing swim baits and Carolina-rigs. So far, I’ve not been able to catch any deep fish in less than 28 feet of water, which I find very odd for this time of year. But, 28 to 35 feet of water seems to be where you’ll find them “IF” they’re going to bite. The colors on the plastics have been the same for both the shallow and deep bite, being; watermelon/chartreuse, pumpkin chartreuse and sour grape. All of them have been Lake Fork Tackle baby ring frys. Borrow areas and humps have been where the deeper fish have been caught.

The 2006 “Fat Girls” page is already taking on a great look and the forecast for the remaining months of this year look great too. To have your picture posted there it must be a minimum of 4 pounds, unless the angler is a child or woman.
