Lake Fork

Water Temp: 83 - 85
Water Clarity: Clear to a light stain

Well, only two tournaments left. One being the Berkley Tournament and the other the Annual McDonald’s Splash. Fishing later this week should really be good with the chances for rain in the forecast. If you would like to see some of the fine fish that my customers have caught over this past week take a look at the “Fat Girls” page for 2006 on www.fishinwithjeff.com.

Also, this time of year I really try to be as accommodating as possible with my guide service by offering a variety of ways to help you avoid the heat. By that, what I do is offer; split day trip, night trips, and trips where we start at 2am. and finish at 11am. Or we can start at day-break and fish a normal day. It’s your call. I am booking trips for the month of September for the Berkley & McDonald’s tournaments. My history of customers doing well in these hourly tournaments has been very good. So, if you think you’d like to give me a try let me know.

The topwater bite has continued to be hit and miss as of late, but when it’s been hit, it’s been good. Shad pattern spooks and pop’rs, Scum Frogs and buzz-baits have been the ticket for fishing early in the morning. We’re fishing lilly-pads, hydrilla and coon-tail moss. Light-weight Carolina-rigs & wacky-rigs on the edges of the grass. On the windy banks white swim blades are catching a few fish, as well as a Bandit 200 series in a variety of chartreuse and shad patterns for colors. Main lake banks, points and secondary points have been where we’re catching our fish.

The deep bite has been on and off! When it has been on were throwing swim baits, Carolina-rigs and Texas-rigs. The colors have been; watermelon, watermelon/chartreuse, pumpkin chartreuse, sour grape, black blue, cotton candy, grape (plum) and red shad. The style has been from Lake Fork Tackle baby ring frys, creatures, to 7 and 9 inch worms. Borrow areas and humps have been where the deeper fish have been caught.

The 2006 “Fat Girls” page is already taking on a great look and the forecast for the remaining months of this year look great too. To have your picture posted there it must be a minimum of 4 pounds, unless the angler is a child or woman.

My web site, www.fishinwithjeff.com , www.lakeforkfatgirls.com If your club, organization or church is looking for a guest speaker I’d be happy to come just give me a call and we’ll get it on the calendar.

It’s that time of year to start looking at your calendar for guide trips for spring and summer. The earlier you book your date the easier it will be to get the date(s) you want. I have dates available if you’re looking for a FULL-TIME guide. Those dates are: June – 22, 23, 28 & 29. July – 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 – 31. So, should you want to become one of my many valued customers and a great group of fishermen give me a call, I’d be honored to be your guide. UNTIL NEXT TIME…GOOD LUCK & TIGHT-LINES!!!
