Lake Fork

Water Temp: 80 - 83
Water Clarity: Clear

Well, only one tournament left, The Annual McDonald’s Splash. Just a reminder, last year one of my customers took second place over all in the McDonald’s Tournament. Take a look at the “Fat Girls” page for 2006 on www.fishinwithjeff.com.

Lake Fork is well over 4 feet low and there are many stumps showing and several others that are just underneath the waters surface, so be very cautious will running your boat.

Fishing has been pretty good as of late. Starting off with june bug frogs (Scum Frogs & plastic frogs) early in the morning. Even if you don’t catch the fish that are hitting the bait they sure are fun to watch attack the bait! Shortly after the topwater bite is gone we’re tying on our Bandits & Rat-L-Traps and fishing the edges of hydrilla. When that isn’t working, which we haven’t found when it wasn’t as of late, we’re going ahead and tying on a Lake Fork Tackle magic shad in watermelon and fishing it through the grass.

The lake will be turning over very soon and that will make fishing tougher for a short while, but this time of year you can always find them somewhere. As for where we’re fishing, we’re fishing all over the lake. From main lake banks all the way back to the backs of the coves and creeks. I realize this report is very short and to the point but this is what the fish have been responding best for me and my customers.

• If you are looking to buy a Nitro bass boat or a Nitro fish/ski boat I have Nitro gift certificates that can save you from $250.00 to $500.00. Just let me know you want or need one and I’ll see to it that I get it to you.

If I can be of more help or assistance regarding a trip or “Bassin’ Class” please contact me at 972-636-7022 / 800-965-0350 or by e-mail at jeff@jeffkirkwood.com. My web site, www.fishinwithjeff.com , www.lakeforkfatgirls.com If your club, organization or church is looking for a guest speaker I’d be happy to come just give me a call and we’ll get it on the calendar.

It’s that time of year to start looking at your calendar for guide trips for fall and winter. The earlier you book your date the easier it will be to get the date(s) you want. I have dates available if you’re looking for a FULL-TIME guide. So, should you want to become one of my many valued customers and a great group of fishermen give me a call, I’d be honored to be your guide. UNTIL NEXT TIME…GOOD LUCK & TIGHT-LINES!!!
