My Wife and I fished Fayette County lake Sunday, Dec.30th. It was a cold gorgeous morning with minimal wind. We went to the outake where the water was up to 92 degrees. It was 60 degrees max everywhere else. I started out throwing a crawdad colored crank bait. I hadn't throw ten times when I got a good solid strike and pulled in a 5 pound large mouth. Fifteen minutes later, got another 5# and a 6#. My Wife switched from her spinner bait to a smaller crawdad crank bait and on first cast caught a 2 pounder. Tried hard but didn't catch anything else. About 1:00, we had some conversation with another fisherman at the launch. He said he was killing them on Black Saltys. He asked if I wanted a few. My Wife had only caught that one fish, so I said "yes" to his offer. We drifted some deep water and on the 1st bait, my Wife caught a 5#. On the next bait, she brought in another 5#. We fished the rest of the Black Saltys we were so kindly given but didn't land anymore. All in all, a beautiful day with some very nice fish. Keep safe, Rayzor |
